Edward Anderson, who was born and reared in this community was accidentally killed at Rhame, N. D., Saturday evening, Feb. 5th. As near as we can learn the facts, the accident happened while he was crossing over some tracks where a train was standing. He passed over one of the tracks just back of a freight and apparently stepped right in front of another moving train. There was considerable steam around the yard making it difficult to see the trains.

OBITUARY.

Again the Master's summons "Come up higher," has been answered for the second time in the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Hotson. Just one month and two days had passed, after the husband and father had been called home, until the wife and mother was called hence on Monday, Feb. 7.

Esther E. Guttridge wife of Thomas A. Hotson was born 86 years ago last April in the village of Emneth, Norfolk, Co., England, making her well spent, well rounded life many years beyond the allotted time.

Citizen Passed Away Sunday

L. M. Rawn died at his farm home "Oakgrove" at about 9:45 Sunday morning, November 7, 1915, after an attack of less than two hours' duration of neuralgia of the heart. Mr. Rawn was at the time of his death 69 years 9 months and 8 days old.

OBITUARY

Carl George Evenson who has been sick for the past year passed away at the home of his father Ole Evenson north of Lyle Thursday, October 14th.

Carl was born in this vicinity July 18th, 1880 and made it his home until his death. Last January he was taken ill and sought medical aid from specialists in Austin, St. Paul and Rochester but was compelled to return home without hope of recovery. For the past three months he has been totally blind and suffered considerable pain.

Matie Melvina, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Helfritz died Saturday afternoon at 1:30 after an illness of about 15 days. Little Matie Melvina was born Saturday March 20th last and was six months, 12 days old. The funeral was held Monday afternoon and interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

The remains of Sam Northness were brought of Lyle Tuesday for interment in the family lot in Six Mile Grove cemetery. The deceased was well known in this community having lived here over 40 years and since he moved to the northern part of the state has been back on a visit.

OBITUARY

The funeral of the late Engebrit Anderson was held at the Six Mile Grove church Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the church cemetery.

The deceased was born April 1st, 1850 in Sogn, Norway. He immigrated at the age of 12 with his parents and settled near Calmar, Ia., where he lived for about 5 years, when he came to Mower County and settled in Six Mile Grove, where he lived until his death.

The funeral of the little son of Mr. and Mrs. John Helgeson of Mona, was held Monday afternoon and the interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery. The little boy was born last February and has been ill most of the time since his birth.

KILLED BY TRAIN

This community has again been most forcefully reminded of the uncertainty of life, this time by accident. Monday about noon while Mrs. Jorgine Rustad was returning from a trip to Mona where she had often gone on business and pleasure, she was struck at the grade crossing by a way-freight on the Illinois Central and instantly killed.

Miss Elenor Brooks, who has been very poorly for some time, passed away at the home of her uncle J. L. Hughson last Friday. It had been known for some time that she could not live long, yet there ever was that hopefulness and struggle to overcome the dread disease which claimed the entire family.

The remains of the late Mr. Cowen were taken from the vault at Austin and interred at Woodbury Cemetery, Wednesday.

Gunder Austinson who has been ailing for some time passed away at his home two miles northeast of Lyle Monday.

He came to America about 47 years ago and most of that time his lived in this vicinity. In 1865 he was married to Helga Amundson who with one son, Theodore, survive him. The deceased was born in Telemarken Norway, April 30th, 1841 and until 26 years of age made his native land his home.

As the last hours of 1914 were passing and ere the new year had been ushered in, the silver cord of life was severed and Christopher Knutson passed from this life, to the country from whence no traveler returns.

He was born March 8th, 1868 in Skudesnes, Norway. After following the sea for a number of years he immigrated to America in 1884 and settled near Decorah, Ia. In 1896 he moved to Cresco, Ia., where he lived 3 years and then moved to this vicinity and at the time of his death resided on the place known as the Richardson farm east of town.

Gertrude May Schumacher, the 11 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schumacher, passed away Tuesday after a few weeks illness. The immediate cause of her death was Brights Disease. Gertrude May was born in May 1903 and was the eldest in the family of five children. The funeral was held Friday afternoon from the house and interment will be made in Woodbury cemetery.

News reached Lyle friends and relatives Monday morning that E. J. Engesetter had passed away at the Thomas Hospital in Minneapolis Sunday. It was sad news to his many friends here, tho it was not thought that he would be able to regain his former good health.

Mrs. Elizabeth Bedford of Woodbury died at four o'clock Wednesday morning October 21, 1914 at the home of her mother, Mrs. M. A. Glines of Austin where she had been for the last three weeks. Death was caused by a complication of diseases. She had been in poor health for a number of years and though a great sufferer, bore her trials patiently.

She was born September 20, 1873, at Lyle, Minn., and on July 10, 1889 was married to R. J. Bedford at Austin.

OBITUARY

Helen Moshier, wife of Joseph Magee, passed away at the home of her parents in Lyle township, Friday noon after a lingering illness of several years, with consumption.

Miss Karen Torgeson, who has been ill for some time, passed away at her home in Mona, Tuesday July 14th. For the past 12 years she has been helped by the county, having no relatives to care for her in her old age.

The deceased was born in Faaberg, Gudbrandsdalen, Norway, May 17, 1834. 43 years ago, she came to this country, and in 1880 came to Mona, where she lived with her brother, Christian, who died about 12 years ago. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in the old cemetery, south and east of the Mona church.

JAMES K. CLARK
Old Resident Passes Away.

The people of this community were shocked, Monday by the news of the sudden death of James K. Clark who passed away at his home at Mona about 12:00 o'clock. Monday after a few hours illness, Mr. Clark was 69 years of age the 28th of May his native state being Wisconsin.

Lyle friends and relatives received word last week of the death of Melvin Thompson who passed away Friday morning April 27th in Minneapolis where he has resided for the past ten years.

OBITUARY

Little Alice Butts who has been ill for a long time passed away Wednesday morning at the Chas. Butts' home near London. The deceased was 11 years old last July and was an adopted child. Her prolonged illness and suffering was a severe trial to her but she bore it with patience and cheerfulness. The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. Samuel Johnson.

The remains of Oscar Arneson who died at his home in Fargo, N. D. was brought to Lyle on Friday, March 6th for interment.

Funeral services were held at the Arneson home and also in the Six Mile Grove church on Saturday afternoon. The remains were laid to rest in the home lot beside his father, brothers and sister, who have preceded him to the far beyond.

Rev. A. Elmer Moe had charge of the services. Beautiful floral offerings were sent both from his Sunday school class, and also from the Sophomore class of the Fargo high school of which he was a member.
