Lyle friends and relatives received word last week of the death of Melvin Thompson who passed away Friday morning April 27th in Minneapolis where he has resided for the past ten years.

Melvin was born in Lyle June 20th 1889 and lived here until the family moved to Minneapolis. He was confirmed at the age of 15 and later joined the Salem Lutheran church, near which the family resided. He was a Christian young man and had many friends who will ever cherish his memory. He was sick for about two years with tuberculosis and it was only after months and weeks of severe suffering that his spirit took its flight. Services were held at home and the remains were brought to Lyle. Sunday interment being made in the family lot at the Six Mile Grove cemetery, Sunday afternoon, the service being conducted by Rev. Moe. The remains were accompanied to Lyle by the parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Thompson and two brothers, Leonard and Clifford and the Misses Bulah Shallbetter and Esther Thompson of Minneapolis. The sympathy of the community is with the bereaved family.

It is with the deepest sense of obligation that we desire to thank our many friends, who so graciously offered sympathy and help after the death of our beloved son and brother, Melvin. For the many beautiful flowers, for the sweet songs, comforting our hearts and for the tender acts of love, we can only say, may the Lord bless you all.
