Funeral Wednesday for Robert C. Tufte

LYLE -- Mr. Robert C. Tufte, 74, of Lyle, died early Saturday morning (May 13, 1995) at his home in Lyle.

He was born Dec. 27, 1920, in Hayward, Minn., and graduated from Austin High School in 1940. On May 7, 1949, he married Margaret Martens at First United Methodist Church in Austin. Mr. Tufte was an over the road trucker for Armstrong Truck Lines for 25 years. He later worked as a dispatcher for Hanefeld Brothers, Inc. for nine years. In addition, he was a manager for Nelson Meat Market for 15 years as well as working for Northwest Airlines. He was a member of the Austin Moose Lodge and a social member of the American Legion in Lyle. Mrs. Tufte died in 1990.

He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Dobson of Princeton, Minn., and Gayle (Mrs. Mark) Patterson of St. Ansgar, Iowa; a son, Dale Clayton Tufte of Austin; two grandsons; a sister, Inga Tufte of Minneapolis; and a brother, Roger Tufte of Boulder, Colo. He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lyle, with the Rev. Harold Lueke officiating. Burial will be in Woodbury Cemetery in rural Lyle.

Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
