News reached Lyle friends and relatives Monday morning that E. J. Engesetter had passed away at the Thomas Hospital in Minneapolis Sunday. It was sad news to his many friends here, tho it was not thought that he would be able to regain his former good health.

Erick J. Engesetter was born in Norway December 28th 1872. The following year he came with his parents to this country and settled in Mitchell county, Iowa where his father purchased a farm. About 25 years ago his father died and eight years later his mother passed away, leaving three children, two girls and a boy without the care and counsel of mother or father, to shift for themselves. The deceased was confirmed in the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church by the late Rev. J. M. Eggen and was a faithful member of that church his entire life. He made his home on the farm purchased by his parents until two years ago when he came to Lyle. For the past three years he has not been well altho his case was not considered at all dangerous until last August when he was taken to St. Olaf's hospital at Austin. He then learned that he was suffering with tuberculosis of the lungs and was taken to the Thomas hospital at Minneapolis where he died last Sunday, December 20th. Mrs. F. A. Hofland is the only surviving member of the family who with his many fiends mourn his death. Mr. Engesetter possessed a quiet disposition, somewhat reserved and displayed the qualities of a splendid character.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Six Mile Grove church and interment was made in the church cemetery. Rev. A. E. Moe conducted the services.
