Julia Enerson obituary

Mrs. Julia Enerson, who has been making her home with her children, Mrs. A. P. Martin and Sam Enerson, since her husband died 36 years ago, passed away at the A. P. Martin home Thursday morning at 11:40.

For several years, she has been deprived of her faculties of hearing and sight and has been more or less an invalid. She was one of the early settlers of this county, having lived in Nevada Township since 1857.

News of the sudden death of Fred Leidall came as a shock to the many friends of the deceased and family. He had been, apparently, in his usual health, and nothing was known of his struggle until Wednesday morning, when he was found dead in bed.

For the past three or four years he has been subject to epileptic fits and it is thought that he suffered one of these fits, and wrapping the bedding around his head, smothered before he was discovered.

The sad news of the death of Miss Mable Anderson reached Lyle friends Monday morning, she having passed away at 3 A. M. The family recently moved to California, hoping that the change of climate might prove beneficial, but alas, the Sunny skies and blooming roses can not stay the hand of the angel of death.

Gustave Carlson died

News spread around town last Saturday, about noon, that Gustave Carlson had suddenly passed away at his home near Mona and it was later corroborated and the facts more completely learned.

He was in apparent good health in the morning and went with his son down to the creek to haul some sand. While there he complained of a pain in his chest and his son assisted him back to the house. His time however was very short and after resting there a few minutes passed away in less than half an hour after being brought home.

Mrs. Julia O. Nelson passed away at the home of her son N. O. Nelson 3 miles west of Lyle Friday Feb. 12th.

The deceased was born in Norway 86 years ago and was at the time of her death 86 years 5 months and 2 days old. She leaves a son with whom she has been making her home and one daughter Mrs. Thor Hermanson of this vicinity.

OBITUARY

John Hughson was called to Denver last Friday by the death of his brother-in-law, Mr. Brooks. He returned Wednesday with the remains and a short funeral service was held by Rev. Washington at Woodbury cemetery.

Mr. Brooks was for many years agent for the C. G. W. Ry. at Bolan, and was quite well known here. He is survived by one daughter, Eleanor, who accompanied the remains here.

Elizabeth Bowers obituary

OBITUARY

Mrs. Bowers who has made her home in this county for nearly 41 years passed away at her home last Thursday morning after a short illness of about two weeks. She lived to a ripe old age and during those many years she made many near and dear friends.

Elizabeth Quickfall was born, in Lincolnshire, England February 7th, 1829. When two years of age she with her fathers family crossed the Atlantic settling in New York state. Later her parents move to Waterloo Co. Ontario, where she grew to womanhood, and May 15th 1849 was married to Jacob S. Bowers.

Bothel Hanson obituary

Bothel Hanson, who has made, his home in this community for many years, passed away at his home on Third street Wednesday morning at 10:00 after a linger illness of two years, tho not seriously so until the last three weeks. He was a man of very quiet disposition and lived a very secluded life. Some how have known him for years, however, speak words of praise and commendation for the departed brother, who was always a good neighbor.

Mrs. Peter Sorenson who has been suffering for the past two weeks with cancer of the stomach passed away at her home 2 1/2 miles north of Lyle Saturday evening about 11 o'clock.

The deceased had not been well for years but not until some two weeks ago was it known that her ailment was so soon to take her from time to eternity; from the family she had so tenderly cared for to the great beyond.

Edward Arneson obituary

Edward Arneson passed away at the home of his mother in Fargo, N. D., Saturday evening after an illness of three years with tuberculosis.

Deceased was born in this vicinity on the 15th of October 1888 and lived here until about 10 years of age when his parents moved west.
About a year ago he visited relatives in this vicinity.

The deceased leaves besides his mother, one sister and two brothers. The remains arrived in Lyle Monday noon and the funeral was held at the Six Mile Grove Cemetery the same afternoon.

Orrin H. Brown obituary

Orrin H. Brown, another one of the brave old soldiers, passed away at his home in Austin Tuesday afternoon after a long and lingering illness.

The deceased was born at St. Johnsville, N. Y., on August 19, 1841. At the call to arms during the civil war, he insisted and served for three years. He came west in 1866 and settled in Nevada township and later moved to Lyle township, about a mile and a half north of the village, where he lived for many years. Later he moved to Austin where he lived until his death. He was well liked and held many positions of trust.

Harry M. Conray died

Harry M. Conray, formerly a resident of Lyle but who of late years has been seeking different climates for his health, passed away at Orchard Tuesday, after a long illness. The K. [illegible: T or P?]. Lodge, of which he was a member, went down to attend the funeral, which was held at Stacyville Wednesday.

Ole Harbranson (Ole Herbrandson) obituary

Ole Harbranson[Herbrandson] passed away at his home, 4 miles n e of Lyle last Friday, after an illness of about 3 weeks. The deceased was born in Norway in 1821 and came to America in 66, since which time he has been a resident of Mower county. He leaves one son, Marius Olson. The funeral was held Monday afternoon when a large concourse of his neighbors and friends accompanied the remains to their last resting place.

Abraham Folsom buried

Abraham Folsom, who passed away at his home of his son, C. F. Folsom, Wednesday evening, was laid to rest in Woodbury cemetery.
Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Belden of Austin. The words of the text will be found in Psa. 71:9, 'cast me not off in the time of old "age."

Abraham Folsom who has been lingering between life and death for about a week, passed away at the home of his son, C. F. Folsom, west of the village, about 7 o'clock Wednesday evening. The funeral will be held from the home Friday afternoon at two o'clock.

HANS SAMUELSON

Hans Samuelson passed away at his home south of Mona Monday after a short illness. He was 86 years of age and had always been strong and well until a few weeks before his death.

He was born in Norway and like the other old settlers came here while the country was new, enduring hardship and privation to build up a home.

He leaves besides a wife, two daughters and three sons to mourn his departure. The funeral was held from the house Wednesday afternoon.

O. D. Erickson died

Monday at 2:30 p. m., Mr. O. D. Erickson, after a years illness, quietly passed away to the unknown beyond. Mr. Erickson was one of Mona's oldest citizens and was known by everyone in this vicinity.

He leaves two sons and two daughters, all grown up who deeply mourn his loss.

Mrs. H. L. Miles died

Last Friday came the sad news of the death of Mrs. H. L. Miles, who died at her home east of St. Ansgar on that morning. She was the daughter of Ole Thorstad and was born near Mona, Iowa, on the 17th of May, 1869. She was well and favorably known here and her host of friends in Lyle extends deepest sympathy to the bereaved relatives. The remains were laid to rest in Mona cemetery on Sunday last.

Mrs. Gunder Larson obituary

Mrs. Gunder Larson was born in Grue, Solar, Norway. Feb. 6 1840.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Christenson and was married to Arney Larson in '64. They emigrated to America in '68, and settled on a homestead in Mitchell Co., Ia., where she lived until her death.

Her husband died 7 years ago. She was the mother of 12 children, 4 sons and 4 daughters of whom are living. She also leaves 4 sisters, 12 grand children and 1 great grandchild.
