OBITUARY

Mrs. Bowers who has made her home in this county for nearly 41 years passed away at her home last Thursday morning after a short illness of about two weeks. She lived to a ripe old age and during those many years she made many near and dear friends.

Elizabeth Quickfall was born, in Lincolnshire, England February 7th, 1829. When two years of age she with her fathers family crossed the Atlantic settling in New York state. Later her parents move to Waterloo Co. Ontario, where she grew to womanhood, and May 15th 1849 was married to Jacob S. Bowers.

They lived in Ontario until the fall of 1860, when they went to southwestern Missouri where they expected to make their home, but in the spring of 1861 at the breaking out of the rebellion it was decided to remove farther north, which they did, living in Auburn, Fayette Co., Iowa two years and afterwards in Osage, eight years, where they had excellent school privileges. March 6th, 1871 they came to Lyle, Minn. settling upon a farm where her death occurred Dec. 28th 1911 at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 21 days.

She had not been feeling well for about two weeks but her condition was not considered serious. She ate a light breakfast and complained of pain in her chest in the region of her heart. At about 9:45 a. m. she passed quietly away. She was a devoted wife and mother, loved her home and her life was spent making those around her comfortable and happy, many times at the sacrifice of her own comfort and health. Those how knew her best loved her most.

Her husband died May 17th 1908 and her oldest child, N. S. Bowers, on Dec. 15th, 1909. She leaves to mourn their loss six children, Mrs. M. J. Haney, Mrs. M. E. Varco, M. E. Bowers, C. N. Bowers, Mrs. B. V. Wilder and Mrs. Fred Hotson, also one sister Mrs. Mary A. Devitt, Freeman, Ontario.
