Christian Fedson obituary

1908 Christian H. Fedson 1963

Christian Harlan Fedson was born April 26, 1908, in Otranto, Iowa, the son of Nels Endrup and Ida Dahl Fedson.

He attended Lyle Public School, Iowa State College and graduated from Still College of Osteopathy, Des Moines, Iowa. He practiced osteopathy until his failing health forced him to retire to hotel management.

During his life he resided at Des Moines, Chicago and Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Fedson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

REV N.N. ESSER BURIED MONA FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Rev N Esser of Fargo, Lutheran clergy man of North Dakota, and father of Mrs. Jos Narlock of Fargo 12th St. N. died Sunday in his home following a long illness. Funeral services were held at 2 P M Thursday in the First Lutheran church with burial at Lyle, Minn. The Ivers Funeral Home had charge of the funeral.

John Erickson, who has been ailing for the past 2 years passed away at his home, Sunday evening at 6 o'clock. For the past 6 weeks he has been very low.

The deceased was born in Norway October 8th, 1850. At the age of 5 years he came to Dane Co., Wisconsin, where he lived for 10 years. In 1865 he moved to Mitchell Co. Iowa where he made his home until his death.

He is survived by a widow and 5 children. They are Johnnie, Mrs. Mads Nelson and Mrs. B. F. Muldown of this vicinity and Ed and Axel of Vida, Montana. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Quite unexpected came the news that Mr. Erik Erikson had died very suddenly at his home in Lyle Friday April 21. Mr. Erikson was born at Sogndal, Norway, March 20th. 1835. He immigrated from Norway and came to America in 1855. Two years later he was united in marriage to Gertrude Johnson. He lived at Stoughton, Wis., for nine years after which he moved to Mitchell Co., Iowa where he purchased a farm. On this farm he lived and labored during the long period of 21 years, going thru many hardships and inconveniences generally connected with rural pioneer life.

OBITUARY

The community was shocked, Monday, when sad news was passed from one to another that Mrs. N.N. Esser had died about 11 o'clock that morning. She had been ailing for some time, in fact had not been well for years, however no immediate danger seemed close at hand. Sunday, she was able to sit up and was able to eat a little. In the evening her condition changed for the worse and she was only able to live with her family a few hours longer.

Lloyd E. Everson was born January 14, 1907, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Everson living near Mona.

He received his education in the Mona school and also his religious instructions and was confirmed and baptized in the Mona Lutheran church.

On June 30, 1937, he married Esther Johnson and they established their home at Lyle where they had resided since. Four children were born to this union.

Carl Martin Foss was born in Mitchell county Iowa, April 27, 1870. He was baptized by Rev. Gjeldaker in infancy.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Foss, with their family, moved to a farm near London where Carl, after proper instruction was confirmed by the Rev. O. Nilson, at the Shell Rock Lutheran church, near Northwood, Iowa.

On March 13, 1902 he was united in marriage to Clara Josephine Bergeson of Deer Creek, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Harry and Cora.

Martha Pauline Anderson was born at Mona, Iowa February 11, 1883, and passed away suddenly at her home southeast of Mona, Thursday morning February 8, 1845, her entire life having been spent in the community.

She was united in marriage to Charles Everson Oct. 25th 1905, and to this union four children were born. They are Lloyd and Mrs Iona Grove of Lyle; Mrs Erlis Libersky of St. Ansgar and Kenneth, now serving with the American army overseas.

The death of Postmastes N E Fedson was announced in Lyle Thursday morning, having passed away at the hospital at Austin at 4 a. m. It was no unlooked for as he has been suffering considerable for the past few months, and last Friday was taken to the hospital at Austin.

For some time past he was known that his time was short, and has set his business affairs in order.

The deceased was born in St. Ansgar in August 1883 and was appointed postmaster in Lyle in August in 1935.

Anna Bjorndal Sampson was born in Nevada Twp. Sept. 17th 1854 and passed peacefully away Dec. 28th 1942 at the home of her daughter, Mrs Tillie McKee after an illness of 8 weeks, at the age of 88 yrs, 3 mos., and 11 days.

She was the eldest daughter of Ole and Marie Sampson, was baptized, confirmed and married by Rev. Clausen.

She was united in marriage to Iver K Everson Oct. 23rd 1872 and lived her entire life in this community. To this union 5 children were born. Her husband preceded her in death 17 years ago.

Huldah Johnson Erickson, the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bernt Johnson was born at Mona, Iowa, July 3, 1882.

On Oct. 30, 1907, she was united in marriage to David E. Erickson, who preceded her in death March 6, 1917. To this union were born one son, Davis, and one daughter, Mena, who preceded her in death, July 3, 1934. During her entire life she has made this community her home.

Mrs. David Erickson, nee Hulda Johnson, passed away at the St. Olaf hospital Sunday noon after suffering intensely since and before she submitted to a major operation. Mrs. Erickson was preceded in death, her parents and a brother and two sisters.

She is survived by one son, David, who is in armed service somewhere overseas and at the present writing has been located.

Mrs I K Everson 88, said to be the second white child born in Nevada township, died at the home of her daughter Mrs W H McKee at Mona Monday afternoon after an illness extended over several months.

The deceased was a life-long member of the Lutheran church and one of the organizers of Ladies aid society. For many years she was an active member of both the aid and the church. It was only after her health failed that she relinquished her much beloved work.
