Funeral services were held Sunday, September 15, for a long time resident of Lyle, Mrs. Annie Dennis, 92, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with the Rev. Melvin Hauge officiating and interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mona.

She died at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin Thursday, September 12, following a lingering illness.

Obituary

Henry Gustav Dahl, born in Orfordville, Wisc., October 1, 1871, passed away at St. Olaf hospital in Austin, Nov. 13, 1956 after a brief illness. Mr. Dahl was 85 years of age at the time of his death which terminated 64 years of active business with all but 11 years of which were spent in the hardware and implement line.

The remains of the late Palmer Arthur Dock, whose death was mentioned in last weeks paper were brought to Lyle and interment took place at the Pleasant Hill cemetery. Friday afternoon, Rev. N. N. Esser having charge of the services.

Palmer Arthur was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter P. Dock and was the oldest of a family of five children. He was born at Lyle, Minn., Jan. 27th, 1890. Here he lived for eight years, until his parents moved to Hawley to reside.

The remains of Claude Spencer Dock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter P. Dock of Elmore, Minn., were brought here Saturday for burial in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. The deceased was born at Rose Creek, Minn., Sept. 23, 1891, where the family remained for a year and a half. They then moved on the farm near Mona and lived there 5 years. In 1898 they moved to Hawley, Minn., where he entered school and graduated from the high school with the class of 1910. After a year at Royalston, the family moved to Elmore, Minn., in 1912. Here he remained until his death.

Peder P. Dock, who has been at the Hospital in Austin several months, passed away Sunday morning, death being caused by paralysis. The remains were brought here and interment was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona on the family lot.

Mrs. Melvin Elverum, 67, died Tuesday, February 6 at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minn. after an illness of three months. Funeral services were held at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle Thursday, February 8 with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiaiting, and interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery south of Mona.

Lucille Margarite Clark, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Clark, was born February 21 1894 at LeRoy, Minnesota.

MONDAY FOR MRS. DOCK

Funeral services were held on Monday at Jordan's Mortuary at Austin for a former Mona community resident, Mrs. Ella Dock, 95, (nee Bjork). Pastor S. Stenson of Lyle officiated with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery south of Mona in the family lot.

Mrs. Dock's home was at West Palm Beach, Florida where she passed away. Her two daughters, Mrs. Esther Baker and Mrs. John Hall, both of West Palm Beach accompanied the body back here for burial.

Her husband and three sons and one daughter preceded her in death.

Mrs. A. B. Dahl, 59, died this morning at St. Olaf Hospital.

She resided at 803 Padden, and is survived by her husband, Arthur. Funeral arrangements by the Worlein Funeral Home will be announced later.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday afternoon at the Jordan mortuary, Austin, for Mrs. Julia Dahl with Pastor Stanley V. Gjervik officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Krause conducted the music service.

Peder Dock obituary

Peder P Dock, who passed away Nov. 12 at his home in West Palm Beach, Fla., was born May 29, 1865, at Blooming Prairie, the son of Peder and Sinov Dock.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at St Ansgar, Iowa, and united in marriage with Ella Bjork on May 15, 1889, at the home farm in Mona, Iowa.

In 1898, they moved to northern Minnesota and later to Enderlin, N. D., where Mr Dock was engaged in the mercantile business. In 1928, they moved to West Palm Beach, where they since made their home.

Emma Amanda Dahl was born July 22 1875, the daughter of Gunder and Gunhild Volstad of Lyle. She attended St. Ansgar Academy, Pillsbury Academy of Owatonna, and Minneapolis School of Music. She was a life-long member of this community and was active as a music teacher, a member of the W C T U, and in church and Sunday School activities.

On October 12, 1898, she was united in marriage to Henry G Dahl. They celebrated their Golden Wedding two years ago. Seven children were born to this union.

The community was shocked Sunday morning when it became known that Nute Dennis had passed away. He went upstairs to get ready to go to church, and when he did not come down his wife went to make investigation. He was dead. The funeral was held Wednesday.

Mr. Dennis was a hard worker, having had an extensive gardening project on the past summer. Now the work is done and the produce garnered, and he has laid aside his tools for this life.

Newton, Dennis, youngest son of Isaac and Mary Dennis, was born March 12, 1877 at Waltham, Minn.

OLAF H. DAHL

Olaf H. Dahl, son of Hans O. and Seriana Dahl, who died at his home in Lyle Thursday, was born in Rock County, Wis., Nov. 19. 1869.

In 1872, the family moved to Mitchell county, Iowa, and a few years later purchased a farm near Otranto. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.

As a young man, he learned the milling trade and operated the Otranto Flour Mill for several years.

Legislator, Dies at Lyle

O. H. Dahl, 71, former state representative, died at his home in Lyle village at 10:45 o'clock this morning.

For eight years Mr. Dahl represented Mower county in the Minnesota legislature. He was fist elected in 1925, and was reelected for the next three terms, serving as a legislator until 1933.

Mr. Dahl was Lyle's leading citizen. He operated a general mercantile store in the village for twelve years, and served as Lyle's mayor for a dozen years.

Oliver Dock was born at Mona, Ia., Jan. 22, 1877 and passed away at his home in St. Paul, March 29th, 1938. In the year 1902 he was united in marriage to Emma Larson, the Rev. J. M.-Eggen officiating. To this union were born 4 children, one of whom died in infancy. The wife, Mrs. Emma Dock, passed away in the year 1912.

Death came Saturday morning at 5 o'clock to Mrs. Ella Elverum, to end the toil and suffering, that has been her lot for many years. At times she was confined to her bed, and then again she would rally and be about the home as usual, but gradually growing weaker. As long as she was able she toiled faithfully on. She will be missed by the family, and also by a host of friends who had learned to know her through her long residence in the community.

Ella Johnson Elverum was born, Nov. 15, 1860 at Sogndal, Norway.

His arrival brought much joy to the family and to many friends as well- all of whom watched his growth and development with interest.
