Martha Johnson-Wilson obituary

Martha (Holland) Johnson-Wilson was born 1838, March 13, Traanhjem, Norge. She immigrated with her parents to this country with her parents when she was twelve years old, 1850. They settled Racine county, Wis., near Michigan, on a farm. After four years they moved to Winishiek county, Iowa. At the age of 15 she was confirmed by Rev. Stubb, the father of Dr. H.G. Stubb. The church in which she was confirmed was the first Lutheran church built in America. It was a log building, later moved to St. Anthony, Minn.

The funeral of the late Oliver Knutson took place Saturday afternoon at the Lutheran church and interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery. The deceased was born in Lyle the 27th day of January 1880 where he made his home until his death and besides the hear relatives he leaves a large number of friends who mourn his departure. Oliver possessed a kind disposition and a quiet nature. While he had never been strong physically, it was not until a few weeks ago that he was compelled to give up work. OBITUARY

Mrs. John Knutson, who has been ailing for a number of years, passed away last Friday while on her way from Rhame, N.D., to Lyle. Mrs. K had been staying at the home of her father, Hans. J. Olson near Rhame N. D. for the past few months.

She was born in Lyle Township Jan. 11th 1890 and lived here until four years ago when she was married to John Knutson and moved to St. Paul. The family later made their home in the northern part of the state.

Carl, the 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Kvalie who reside on the K. G. Knutson farm, passed away at the Hospital at Austin Sunday morning about one o'clock. He had been taken there three days previous. The deceased has been ailing about eight days before he was taken to the hospital but his case was not considered critical until he was given medical attention.

Peter K. Johnson, who had for many years been a resident of Lyle, passed away last Friday about one o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Larson west of Lyle, where he has been making his home since the 10th of December, after a lingering illness of three years with heart trouble.

He came to this country from Norway in 1870, where he was born November 1, 1850. His wife and only son have both preceded him to the great beyond. Mr. Johnson was a quiet citizen and made many friends.

Words can but faintly express the deep sympathy and tender feeling that goes out to the Tom Thompson family who were so suddenly bereft of a loving wife and mother. Her cheerful countenance will be missed from our village and her faithful interest in the church must cease, but they who have known her tender care and devotion in the home, as well as friends and neighbors, will ever cherish her memory.

Mrs. Gertie Knutson, wife of K. O. Knutson, died at her home three miles east of Mona last Thursday afternoon August 18th, from heart failure, at the age of 38 years 10 months and 25 days.

Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sever P. Nordness and was born in Calmar, Sept. 23, 1865, being one of a family of eight children. The family removed to the vicinity, during her early life, where she grew to womanhood. In September 1896 she was united in marriage to K. O. Knutson and to them was born four children, three girls and a boy.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mina Kilgore, 74, of Mona, who died Thursday, January 8 at the Mitchell County hospital in Osage, were held Sunday, January 11 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Gordon Rasmussen officiating.

Mina Kilgore, daughter of Eberhardt and Alice Johnson was born May 1, 1884 in Mitchell county, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church where she had always been a member. She was an honorary member of the Mona Ladies Aid.

OBITUARY

Mrs. Anna Kvien was born in Norway on Oct., 6, 1865. After having lived in Norway for some years she came to this country and has been in Lyle for some 20 years.

She had been ill for the past nine months with a heart ailment. Pneumonia set in and after a period of illness she was called to her eternal reward, Monday morning at 5:15.

She was married to K. O. Kvien in Red Wing, Minn, and together they lived a full and active life.

FRIDAY

Funeral services for Knut Knutson 69, who died Tuesday March 28th at the hospital in Austin, were held at the Lyle Lutheran church Friday afternoon. Burial was at Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Mr Knutson was born June 21, 1875 at Lyle, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Mueller Eggen.

On September 6, 1899 he was united in marriage to Thea Rue, who passed away April 9th, 1900, seven months after their marriage.

AT HIS FARM HOME FRIDAY

Arne Larson 67, died suddenly from a heart attack Friday afternoon at his farm home one and a half miles west of Lyle.

The deceased has not been well for years, yet he labored on in his quiet unassuming way without complaint. Mr Larson was a successful farmer, not afraid of hard work, a good neighbor and a loyal citizen. He provided a good home for his family and an education for the children. He will be missed in this community, as well as by the circle of loved ones.

The funeral of Mrs Gertrude Klema was held in the Lyle Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, and interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery. The deceased passed away at the Colonial Hospital at Rochester, Minnesota, May 14 1939 after a short siege of pnuemonia.

Death is sometimes welcome to the sick or aged but when it comes with out warning to the strong and robust, it strikes a double blow at those who are near and dear, that only time can even partially heal. Such was the case in the death of Mr. Larson.

The accident is said to have occurred Sunday evening while his son Elser who was driving, turned out to avoid hitting a car which was traveling in the middle of the road and the Larson car struck a bridge abutment. The occupants in the back escaped without serious injury.

Peter Johnson slept peacefully away at 11:50, Monday, Jan. 18, at the home of his son, Palmer, four miles northwest of Lyle at the age of 88 years, seven months and eleven days. He had been in fairly good health until nine days before his death when he suffered a stroke.

He was the son of Md. and Mrs. John Ellingson and was born near Bergen, Norway on June 7, 1848, where he grew to manhood. His occupation there was a sailor on fishing vessels on the North Sea.

Harriet Evonne Jordan was born June 8, 1934 and passed away the date of her birth. Funeral services were held at the parental home Sunday June, 10th at 2 P. M. Interment was made at the Pleasant Hill cemetery, Rev. O. M. Landehough officiating. Those left to mourn her loss, beisides her parents Mr. and Mrs. H. Jordan, are her two sisters, Melba and Darlene.

Arnie Helmer Larson, was born September 24, 1875 to Arne and Gunhild Larson, near Mona, Iowa on the farm where his brother still lives and passed away July 23, 1943 at the age of 67 years and 10 months.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of which he was a faithful member at the time of his death.

George L. Kilgore of Mona, Iowa, passed away at St. Olaf Hospital at 10:25 A. M., July 4th, 1929. Had he lived until July 12th, he would have been 46 years old. He was born at Otranto, Iowa, July 12, 1883, and was married to Miss Mina Johnson of Mona, Iowa, on May 1st, 1907. They made their home in Mona and vicinity.

The remains of Mrs. John Larson whose death occurred at Marion, N. D., and was mentioned in last weeks Tribune, were accompanied here by Arnie Anderson and son Andrew Anderson. The body was laid to rest in Pleasant Hill cemetery the same afternoon.

Anna Louise Larson was born at Adams, Minnesota, Feb. 23rd, 188[illegible:?] and grew to young womanhood in that vicinity.

She was united in marriage to John Larson of Mona, Iowa April 1902, and in the spring of 190[illegible:?] they moved to Marion, N. D., where she has since resided.

Ingeborg Kvale obituary

OBITUARY.

Mrs. Ingeborg Kvale, nee Myhre, was born on the Atlantic Ocean, May 11, 1854. With her parents she came to Wisconsin and lived near Stoughton for some time. Later the family moved to Iowa and settled near Emmons, Minn., Then Ingeborg was united in marriage to Andrew J. Kvale. After the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Kvale made their home at Brookings, S. D., for nearly 30 years. The last few years they have lived on a farm west of Lyle.

Mrs. Kvale has been ailing the last two years steadily becoming weaker until she was called away Saturday, March 22, at 5:40 P.M.
