Death is sometimes welcome to the sick or aged but when it comes with out warning to the strong and robust, it strikes a double blow at those who are near and dear, that only time can even partially heal. Such was the case in the death of Mr. Larson.

The accident is said to have occurred Sunday evening while his son Elser who was driving, turned out to avoid hitting a car which was traveling in the middle of the road and the Larson car struck a bridge abutment. The occupants in the back escaped without serious injury.

His sudden death was a severe shock to his family, who are left to mourn the death of a kind and loving husband and father. Surviving him besides the widow and ten children are 25 grand children, three brothers: Andrew Birkland of Davis, S. Dak; and two brothers and one sister in Norway.

George Larson was born in Jondal Hardanger, Norway, June 25, 1869 and died at the age of 67 years 11 months and 12 days. His tragic death occurred at Bresford, S Dak, June 13 1937.

George Larson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Jondal, Norway. At the age of 18 he came to this country, locating at Carpenter Iowa.

In 1894 he was united in marriage to Matilda Amundson of Mona, Ia. They lived at St. Ansgar, Ia. a little over a year, after which they moved to Mona, where they have since resided.

Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Larson: Mae, (Mrs. Bennie Christopherson) of LeRoy, Minn,; Ruth (Mrs. Ole Anderson; Marion, (Mrs. Clifton Mc Camy;) Georgia, (Mrs. Lee Cole) all of Austin, Minn,; Leonard; Burton; Le Du; Elmer Elser of Lyle and vicinity.

Two daughters preceded their father in death: Lila, (Mrs. Emmanuel Barclay) and Rebecca.

At the time of Mr. Larson's death he was working at Davis, S. Dak, for his brother, who is a construction superintendent. It was his custom to join his brother each spring and work for him through the summer.

The funeral services were held Wednesday, June 16, at 2 P.M. at the Mona church. Rev. Langehough officiating. Interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
