Mrs. Gertie Knutson, wife of K. O. Knutson, died at her home three miles east of Mona last Thursday afternoon August 18th, from heart failure, at the age of 38 years 10 months and 25 days.

Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sever P. Nordness and was born in Calmar, Sept. 23, 1865, being one of a family of eight children. The family removed to the vicinity, during her early life, where she grew to womanhood. In September 1896 she was united in marriage to K. O. Knutson and to them was born four children, three girls and a boy.

The deceased has been in poor health for some time and about a month ago was taken to St. Olaf's hospital at Austin where she remained about three weeks, but not gaining much, she returned to her home. The day before her death she felt especially weak and expressed the opinion that she would not be able to live long and asked that the children be well cared for. She was a life-long member of the Lutheran church and was ever prominent in its affairs. The deceased leaves besides her husband and mother four children, three sisters and four brothers, all of whom reside in this vicinity with the exception of Peter Nordness who lives in Oregon.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Rasmusson of Adams who spoke very feelingly of the meeting of the daughter and father, who had preceded her to the glorious realm above, and of the father's testimony, which he gave before his death, regarding the change in hi life. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
