Martin Willinger, 82, a long time Mona area farmer, died Friday, May 30 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Osage.

Funeral services were held on June 2 at Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. S. Klemesrud officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Mrs. Irene Larson, Mrs. Eva Carlson and Mrs. R.A. Anderson accompanied Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Gislason to Blooming Prairie on Saturday to attend the funeral of a former Mona resident, Miss Serena Bakke, 89 held at First Lutheran church there. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona. She was the daughter of the late Knut Bakke who resided on the farm now owned by Dene Duenow.

Henry O. Johnson, 73, a long time Lyle businessman, died on Friday, April 14 at St. Olaf hospital, Austin, from a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held in Lyle Monday, April 17 at Our Savior's Lutheran church with the Rev. M. Johnson officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery, south of Mona.

He had operated a department store in Lyle many years and the past 25 years had been a Rawleigh dealer.

Funeral services were held in Lyle on Tuesday for a former Otranto and Toeterville area woman, Mrs. Henry (Clara) Thompson, 82, (the former Clara Fossey) who passed away from a long illness at Long Beach, California, on Thursday, Sept. 23.

Services were held at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating and interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Survivors are two sons, one sister and five brothers.

A lifelong Mona resident, Alfred J. Larson, 78, died from a lingering illness in Austin, Tuesday, July 28, and funeral services were held at Mona Lutheran church, Thursday, July 30 with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating. Interment was in the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Austin, Minnesota.

Alfred J. Larson, son of John and Martha (Samuelson) Larson, was born November 19, 1885 at Mona. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Mona by the Rev. J. Muller Eggen and also attended the Mona school.

Funeral services for Mrs. William Garner, 68, of Route 1, Lyle who died Wednesday morning, July 29 at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage, will be held Friday, July 31 at 2 p. m. at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery. A complete obituary will appear in next week's paper.

A Mona near farmer, Adolph Jahr, 71 died at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital Sunday, March 24 following a short illness.

He had farmed south of Mona since his marriage to Marian Nelson until his health failed. His wife preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 27, at Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

A well-known Lyle resident, W. Ben Helfritz, 77, died Sunday, February 3 at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minn. from a heart attack where he had been a patient for two weeks following a light stroke.

He came to Lyle in 1908, from St. Ansgar and operated a dray business in Lyle for fifty-two years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 5 at Worlein's Funeral Home in Austin and interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Larden Halverson, 73, long time Mona resident died suddenly Friday, January 13 at his home in Mona at 2 p. m. from a heart condition he had been afflicted with for the past three years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 17 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating, with interment in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

A former Lyle resident, Mrs. Roy Volstad, 64, was brought back to Lyle for funeral services at Our Savior Lutheran church Saturday, December 3, with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating and interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Alice Aline Thompson was born at Lyle May 26, 1896, the daughter of Thomas and Othelia Thompson. She was baptized and confirmed in Lyle and attended the Lyle school.

Funeral services for a Lyle resident John I. Johnson, age, 78, held at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle Thursday, July 28 with Rev. Stanley Klemesurd officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

John I. Johnson was born June 14, 1882 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Inbebret Johnson in Mitchell county, near Lyle. He passed away July 25 at the Jacob's Rest Home in Austin, Minn. where he has been cared for the past six years.

Funeral services for Sam Olson, 87, of Lyle who died March 31 at St. Olaf hospital in Austin from a lingering illness, were held Saturday, April 2 at Worlein Funeral Home at Austin with the Rev. Merland Johnson of Lyle officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Sam Olson was born Sept. 18, 1872 at Fla Dahl, Norway, the son of Amund and Helge Olson, one of a family of five girls and three boys. He came to Mower county in 1880, and settled west of Lyle where he spent most of his life.

Funeral services for Mrs. Edna C. Volstad, 61, of Lyle, who died Friday, January 15, were held Tuesday, January 19 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating.

Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery in Mona.

Edna Claudina Hofland Volstad was born November 11, 1898, to Iver and Christina Hofland in Mitchell County, Iowa.

Funeral services for Mrs. Frank W. Kovarik, 78, who died at the Park hospital in Mason City Monday, November 9, were held Wednesday, November 11 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating.

Ella Marie Hanson was born November 18, 1881, the daughter of O. P. and Christine Hanson in Mona, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church.

Funeral services were held at Our Savior Lutheran church in Lyle Sunday for Steven Richard Golberg, age one year, son of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Golberg who died at St. Mary's hospital in Rochester Sept. 17 from leukemia.

He was hospitalized in the Memorial hospital in June and at Rochester, Minn., various times during the summer.

He was born Sept. 5, 1958.
Survivors include his parents and a sister Kathy; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Orris Golberg of Mona and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Myhre of Lyle.

For Carl Haugen

Funeral services are being held this afternoon for Carl Haugen, 83, retired Otranto Township farmer, who died Monday night at the farm home of his son, Odell Haugen.

Mr. Haugen had resided in the Otranto area for the past 47 years.

The services are being conducted from the Mona Lutheran church with burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery near there.

Survivors include two sons, Odell and Leland, both of the Lyle area and a brother, Oliver, of Osage.

Lloyd Everson, of Lyle, age 50, died suddenly Saturday night at 10 p. m. at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin following a stroke suffered that same afternoon.

He had been in poor health for the past four years but had been up and about. He was doing some repair on his car when the stroke came on. He tried to make it to the house but fell on the porch and was found there by his daughter Lola Kay. He was immediately taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Carl Hanson died

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Mona Lutheran church for Carl Hanson, age 79, who passed away quite suddenly Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Raymond Nelson, in Austin with whom he had resided for a number of years. He had been an invalid for 13 years. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery south of Mona.

Funeral services for Oscar E. Hofland, 44, of Toeterville, who died as the result of an automobile accident near Mona Wednesday, July 29, were held at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church Saturday, August 1, with the Rev. Stanley V. Gjervik officiating.

Oscar Emmett Hofland was born July 10, 1909, in Union township, Mitchell county, Iowa, the son of Elling and Gertrude (Engeseter) Hofland. He was baptized and confirmed in the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church.
