Saturday Forenoon

Sophie Othelia Torgeson passed away at her home west of Lyle, at 10 o'clock, Saturday forenoon. She was stricken with apoplexy, Wednesday evening, from which she never regained consciousness. She was born July 6, 1884 and was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church by Rev. J. M. Eggen, in which faith she always remained.

The funeral of Mrs. Jorgen Thompson, who passed away at her home near Mona, Oct. 21, after a lingering illness, was held Saturday, Oct. 24, Rev. Langebough officiating. The deceased was born in Songdahl, Norway, Oct. 13, 1838, and was married to Jorgen Thompson, June 28. 1866. In 1874 they immigrated to America and shared the toils, privations and comradeship of the early settlers. To them were born six children, five of whom are left to mourn the departure and cherish the memory of a noble, loving mother.

Bertha Swenson was born July 18, 1844 in Sogn, Norway. She immigrated to this country, in 1857, with her parents, and settled at Black Earth, Wis. and from there moved to Boscobel, in 1867. She was joined in marriage to Wm. Swenson July 18, 1866, and moved to Lyle in the spring of 1896. To them was born 10 children, one of whom died in infancy. Those who survive her are: Martin of Plaza, N. D., John of Marshall, N. D., Carl of Swayer, N. D., Sam of Los Angeles, Cal., Wilson of Meltonville, Ia., Bert of Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. C. A. Erickson and Julia Swenson of Lyle, Mrs.

OBITUARY

Miss Sarah Tufton was born in Fillmore County, Minnesota, October 28, 1871. She came with her parents to Mitchell Co., Iowa when she was but a child. Here she attended school and here she was confirmed by Rev. J. M. Eggen.

At one time she had a millinery store in Lyle. About thirty years ago she moved to Rushford, Minnesota, where she was engaged in the same kind of business.

Miss Tufton is spoken of by those who knew her as a woman of a most pleasing personality; she spread sunshine and cheer wherever she went.

Ole Thorstad obituary

This community was very much saddened Monday morning of last week when it became known that Ole Thorstad had a stroke of paralysis but lingered along until Friday the 13 when he died about 12 o'clock. Mr. Thorstad was born in Norway in 1834 and emigrated to this country in 1862. Settled first in Wisconsin, then moving west and after a short stay at Adams, Minn. settled down in Otranto township, Mitchell County Iowa.

The lives of a mother and her son came to an end within four days of each other this week. Mrs. Michael Thompson, 85, died at her home here Tuesday morning. The day that her son, Henry Thompson, was buried at Lyle, Minn.

David T. Thompson, 65, of Fridley, formerly of Austin, died on May 28, 2009 at Unity Hospital in Fridley.

David Theodore Thompson was born Aug. 3, 1943 in Austin, to Lewis O. and Margaret E. (Jacobson) Thompson. Following graduation from Austin High School he worked in Iowa and Minnesota, most recently as an instructor at NEI College of Technology for many years. He enjoyed hunting, reading, and had a love of boats.

Clara Thompson Funeral Held At Our Savior's

Clara O. Fossey Thompson was born in Mitchell County, near Otranto, August 26, 1883, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton and Olivia Fossey.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church by Rev. Eggen and received her education in Pleasant Prairie rural school in Otranto township.

She was married to Henry Thompson of St. Ansgar in 1905. They farmed near Toeterville for about 10 years, then moved to Milach, Minn., in 1915 where they resided until the death of her husband in 1936.

Mrs. Thompson obituary

Mrs. Thompson passed away at her home last Wednesday after an illness which lasted nearly two years. Her death came as a relief, as she had been confined to her bed since she suffered a paralytic stroke a year ago last spring. She was a patient sufferer, putting her trust in the Savior. Funeral services were held at the local church Saturday, Rev. O. M. Langehough officiating. Interment took place in the family lot by the side of her husband, who preceded her in death some years ago.

JACQUELINE VOLSTAD

Jacqueline Sue Volstad, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Volstad, Owatonna, was born prematurely Thursday afternoon at Rochester and died several hours later.

Surviving are her parents; a sister, Victoria Lynn; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Shipe, Austin, and Victor Volstad, Lyle.

Services were held this afternoon at the Worlein Funeral Home, Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona.
