Funeral services for Mrs. Chris Nelson, 71, of Mona, who died in Austin Thursday, Sept. 27 following a stroke, were held Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley V. Gjervik officiating.

Mrs Chris Nelson, daughter of Andrew and Johanna Olson was born June 2, 1880 in Smoolene, Norway. In 1882 she came to this country with her parents and has since lived in the Mona community. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Funeral services for Charles O. Everson, 75, who died when his trailer home was destroyed by fire Sunday night, were held Wednesday, February 14 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley V. Gjervik officiating.

The Everson home, located north of the St. Ansgar Implement building on the north side of town, was completely destroyed by fire.

Funeral services for Adolph Thompson, 68, who died suddenly January 22, were held Saturday, January 27 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. S. V. Gjervik officiating.

Adolph Thompson, son of Knute and Martha Thompson, was born December 18, 1883 on a farm east of Mona in Mitchell county. As a young lad, he with his parents moved to the farm south of Mona where he had since resided. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church by Rev. J. M. Eggen.

LAST RITES CONDUCTED FOR MRS. W. H. MCKEE AT MONA

Funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran church at Mona at 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. W. H. McKee. The Rev. O. M. Langehough was in charge of the services with burial at the Pleasant Hill cemetery south of Mona.

Mrs. W. H. McKee died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. Larson at Mona Saturday evening. Mrs. McKee was the daughter of Iver and Anna Everson and had lived almost all her life in this vicinity.

FUNERAL SERVICES CONDUCTED AT MONA LUTHERAN CHURCH THURSDAY AFTERNOON

Knute O. Knutson, 73, one of the early settlers here, died at his home in Lyle Monday morning, of last week following an illness of several months. The funeral was held at the Mona church on Thursday afternoon, with Rev. Olaf A. Langehough in charge and burial was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Elling A. Hofland

Elling A. Hofland was born in Sogndal, Norway, on December 5, 1851. He was baptized and confirmed at the same place. In 1870, at the age of 19, he came to America, staying in Stoughton, Wis., for three weeks and then coming to Mitchell County, Ia., where he settled and spent the rest of his life.

In 1898 he was united in marriage with Gertrude Engeseter. To this union six children were born, namely Alfred, Sidney, Martha (Mrs. Ervin Shulze), Ella (Mrs. Ervin Eietrich) Oscar and Eugene, all of whom survive him.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD AT LYLE TUESDAY; BURIAL WAS MADE AT MONA

Mrs. B. W. Helfritz, 48, died at her home near Lyle Saturday morning at 7:40 o'clock as a result of complications which developed during an attack of influenza. Funeral services were conducted at the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Lyle Tuesday afternoon, Rev. O. M. Langehough officiating. Interment was made at Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Olette Johnson obituary

Olette Gunderson Berg passed away October 5, 1929, at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 26 days. She was born in Brue Solar, Norway, on June 8th, 1854, and was baptized and confirmed at the same place. She came to America in 1883, and later was married to Eberhart Johnson at St. Ansgar, Iowa.

Mrs. Johnson has resided in Otranto township since coming to America.

Clarence Hold, son of Mr. Ole Holt, passed away at the sanitorium at Oak Dale, Iowa, last Wednesday. Clarence had been in poor health for several years and had gone to Oak Dale January 24th in hopes of regaining his health, but instead he contracted flu and death came as a relief to his sufferings, Wednesday night. he was always a bright cheerful boy all thru his sickness.
