Webster Johnson, 87
Webster Johnson, 87, of Lyle, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center, Austin.
He was born Dec. 25, 1915, to John O. and Mathilda (Arneson) Johnson in Lyle.
He graduated from Lyle High School in 1934, attended the University of Minnesota for three years then returned to Lyle to farm. He began a dairy operation and delivered milk door to door in Lyle. Later he raised beef cattle and crop farmed.
On Jan. 14, 1940, he married Marlys Richardson. They had seven children.

Visitation: Visitation will take place Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and will continue on Saturday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at church.

Donna was born July 28, 1932 in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, Iowa to Roy and Bessie (Berg) Duenow. She was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran Church. She graduated from St. Ansgar, Iowa Senior High School and received her teaching certificate from Iowa Teachers College, Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Marlys Verdell Richardson was born on Aug. 12, 1918, in Lyle, Minnesota, to Hans and Anna (Olswold) Richardson. She graduated from Lyle High School in 1935 at the age of 16, as she had skipped a grade in school. She was valedictorian of her class. After graduation she worked for her uncle, John Hanson, at Hanson’s Department Store in Lyle.

Russell Norman Anderson, 80, of Saint Ansgar, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society in Saint Ansgar.
Mona Lutheran Centennial August 14, 15
Our Savior's Lutheran congregation at Mona is observing its Centennial August 14, 15. It was organized September 29, 1876 in Mona's first schoolhouse. It has been an independent congregation prior to that of the St. Ansgar Norwegian Lutheran church from 1853 to 1859, then from 1859 part of the Six Mile Grove congregation.
The first pastors at Mona were the Rev. C.L. Clausen, who brought Lutheranism to this area; the Rev. J. Olsen and the Rev. B.B Gjeldaker up until and through 1881.
Rev. Odean Tieman Funeral Held At Menomonie, Wis.
Funeral services for a former Mona and Lyle resident, the Rev. Odean Tieman, 66, were held Saturday, May 15 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Menomonie, Wis at 11 a.m. where he was pastor, and a prayer services was held at Mona Lutheran church at 4:30 p.m. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Rohde, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Golberg, Mrs. Irene Larson, Mrs. Pete Anderson, Mrs. Gus Lee attended the funeral of Galen Carlson, 64, held in Hage Funeral Home, Charles City, on Monday. Mr. Carlson died at his home Friday. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, Mona.

The little village of Mona on highway 218 one mile south of Lyle in northern Mitchell county is scarcely noticed by travelers. It hasn't even been marked by a sign until last week when a sign was erected at the only place of business in the village, the Mona Grocery Store operated by Mrs. Adeline Geffert announcing the year of their Centennial.

Ole Helgeson, 78, died Sunday evening, August 24 enroute to the hospital after suffering a heart attack at his home.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 27 at Our Savior's Lutheran church, Lyle, with the Rev. M. Johnson officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Peter E. Anderson, 80, lifelong Mona area farmer, died Sunday, August 10 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at Mona Lutheran church with interment in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Mona.
