Bertha Swenson was born July 18, 1844 in Sogn, Norway. She immigrated to this country, in 1857, with her parents, and settled at Black Earth, Wis. and from there moved to Boscobel, in 1867. She was joined in marriage to Wm. Swenson July 18, 1866, and moved to Lyle in the spring of 1896. To them was born 10 children, one of whom died in infancy. Those who survive her are: Martin of Plaza, N. D., John of Marshall, N. D., Carl of Swayer, N. D., Sam of Los Angeles, Cal., Wilson of Meltonville, Ia., Bert of Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. C. A. Erickson and Julia Swenson of Lyle, Mrs. Josephine Rasmussen of St. Paul, also 8 grandchildren.

Mrs. Swenson passed away, at her home in Lyle, May 27th, after a long illness. The funeral service was conducted in the Lyle Lutheran church May 30th, Rev. O. M. Langebough officiating. Interment was made in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
