FUNERAL WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Julia Gunderson died at 4:55 Sunday morning at the home of her niece, Mrs. Chris Olson in Nevada township. Mrs. Gunderson had been in poor health for some time, but it was only a few weeks ago that she had strong hope of returning to her home in Mona. The funeral services were held in Mona Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. O. M. Langehough having charge. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Double Funeral Held Sunday For Harold Fossey's

The entire community was saddened last Thursday, March 9 of the tragic death of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fossey, prominent Mower county farm couple who lost their lives by smoke inhalation in a fire in their farm home northeast of Lyle.

Double funeral services were held Sunday, March 12 at Our Savior's Lutheran church, Lyle, with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, Mona.

Martha Anderson Gould, daughter of John and Maggie Anderson, born in Norway on November 5th, 1842, and died on February 6th, 1928; aged 85 years 3 months and one day; at the home of her daughter Mrs. W. C. Frank, at Rudd, Iowa.

The funeral was conducted at the home and at the First Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar by his pastor, Rev. M. E. Waldeland, on Wednesday, the 2nd of July, and was very largely attended being one of the largest funerals ever held in St. Ansgar, not half the people being able to get into the church Rev. Waldeland preached a very impressive sermon from Romans 1.16 "For I Am Not Ashamed of The Gospel of Christ, for It Is the Power of God unto Salvation to Everyone That Believeth."

Olive Fossey obituary

The following article from the Press concerns Mitchell County people all of whom are well known in St. Ansgar:

Miss Cordelia Hansen lies in a hospital at Rhame, N.D., with with both arms broken, and otherwise injured, as a result of an accident which occurred on Wednesday night last week. In the same accident the little 4 months-old baby of Mrs. Otto Fossey(nee Anna Hansen) was killed.

John Gould obituary

-The sad news of the death of John Gould reached here Monday, he having been found dead in bed Monday morning. He had been in poor health for a number of years, suffering from consumption and early last winter he became so bad that he could no longer attend to business and leased the Lyle Tribune, of which he was proprietor, to R.A. Ferris. In fact he got so he could scarcely walk at all. Then he commenced taking treatment of Dr. Culmsee and had been slowly but steadily improving.

When but nine months old his parents moved from St. Ansgar and settled on the farm where he was raised and finally died.

Mrs. Kelly (Hanna) George, 72, died this morning at St. Olaf Hospital. She resided at 908 8th Ave. SE.

She is survived by her husband, Kelly; son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Terence (Barbara) Meany, Austin; three granddaughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Debora) Bergeson, Marshall, Minn., Miss Lisa Meany, Miss Nancy Meany, Aastin; two sisters, Miss Clara Helgeson, Mrs. Helen Silbaugh, Austin; one brother, Henry Helgeson, Austin; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday.

Funeral services for Ida Oline Gould, 94, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center here February 5, were held February 8 at the first Lutheran church with the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating.

Ida Oline Williams Gould was born on a farm in St. Ansgar Township, Mitchell County, October 21, 1882, the seventh daughter of Knute and Oline Hesgard Williams.

Oris Tilfred Golberg, 99

Oris Tilfred Golberg, 99, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

He was born June 22, 1902, on a farm near Lyle to Olaf and Andrena (Austinson) Golberg.

He was baptized into the Lutheran faith Aug. 10, 1902, at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, rural Lyle and confirmed his faith at 14 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle.

He played baseball and was a Minnesota Twins fan.

He married Clara Nelson at the Lyle Parsonage.

Otto O. Fossey Funeral Held First Lutheran

Funeral services for Otto O. Fossey, 84, who died at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center Monday, April 21, 1989, were held on Wednesday, April 23 at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. D. Comnick officiating.

Mr. Fossey was born February 17, 1885 in Mitchell county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton O. Fossey. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church, and lived in this community all his life except for the few years he homesteaded in North Dakota.
