Gunderson, Julia Swenson

Mrs. Julia Swenson Gunderson passed away July 3, 1938 at the home of her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Chris E. Olson. She was in failing health the past five months, and was patient in her suffering. She was born Oct. 26th, in 1864, Leardal, Telemarken Norway. She came to Six Mile Grove with some of her sisters at the age of 16 years. She was united in marriage to Knute Gunderson in May 1904. They resided on a farm three miles west of Lyle for number of years until Mr. Gunderson's health failed, when they moved to Austin, Minn, and lived there until his death, March 17, 1919. Since that time she has made her home, most of the time at Mona, Iowa. She has been a faithful member and worker in the Mona Ladies Aid, which she greatly enjoyed.

She leaves to mourn her death, two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Nelson of Spokane, Wis., and Mrs. Rose Powell of Missoula, Mont., five step children, Bernie and Gunder Gunderson, Miss Mary Nelson, all of Wisconsin; Mrs. Anna Larson of Osage, Iowa, and Mrs. Magna Martin of Lyle, Minn.; three nieces, Andrea Moen, Mrs. Louis Jacobson and Mrs. Chris E. Olson, all of Rose Creek, Minn and a number of other relatives and friends.
