Oris Tilfred Golberg, 99, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

He was born June 22, 1902, on a farm near Lyle to Olaf and Andrena (Austinson) Golberg.

He was baptized into the Lutheran faith Aug. 10, 1902, at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, rural Lyle and confirmed his faith at 14 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle.

He played baseball and was a Minnesota Twins fan.

He married Clara Nelson at the Lyle Parsonage.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, served on the board of trustees and was active in the Lutheran Brotherhood.

He was a member of the Mona School Board and served as an election official for Otranto Township.

He lived on a farm south of Lyle to raise his family, did general trucking and farmed until 1975, when he and his wife retired to the Lincoln Apartments in Osage, Iowa.

They moved to the Worth Living Center in St. Ansgar until March of 1997 when he entered the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

Survivors include sons, Olaf and his wife, Florence, Tempe, Ariz.; Nels and his wife, Shirley, St. Ansgar; a daughter, Karen Cook and her husband, Robert, Charles City, Iowa; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a niece, nephews and cousins.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. tonight at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating.
Interment: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona
