The deceased came to this country in the spring of 1862. She was married in 1864 to Colin Gould living first in St. Ansgar, Newburg township, later moving to Otranto township where she resided until in 1906. From that time until her death she made her home with her children. Her husband passed from this life in 1895.

There were born to her eleven children, one of whom, John, passed away in 1902.

Mrs. Gould was a member of the Lutheran church in Norway and preserved her connection with the same church in this country being a loyal member of the same.

A woman of good christian character, and broad sympathies, she was loved and respected by all who knew her.

The noblest thoughts my soul can claim,
The holiest words my tongue can frame
Unworthy are to praise the name
More sacred than all others.
An infant, when her love first came;
A man, I find it just the same;
Reverently I breathe her name,
The blessed name of mother.
--G. G. Fretter

The funeral service was held at the Mona church, Thursday afternoon, Rev. Langehough officiating.
