THE OBITUARY OF
MRS. OLIVIA FOSSEY

Death never takes a vacation. Saturday, one of the coldest days of the winter, this grim reaper was hovering over the village of Lyle, and as the day waned and the shades of night hung low, the spirit of Mrs. Olivia Fossey passed quietly from its earthly [illegible : hiding?] place to that home beyond, from whence no traveler returns.

She was one of the pioneer mothers, who, by their example in home and [illegible: church?] helped to forward the better interests of the community. Yes, she [illegible?] many of her friends, who were [illegible?] but recently, has passed on, [illegible?] many, who knew her ere [illegible?] lady, which wore away her [illegible: strength?] during a long illness, and [illegible:?] rob the home and community, [illegible?] long cherish the memory of this gentle, God-fearing woman.

Olivia [illegible?] was born Jan. 1858, in [illegible: Branvol?], Solor, Norway. She emigrated to America at the age of [illegible:?] and located in Mitchell county, Iowa. Here she was united in marriage to Anton Fossey, on Dec. 8, 18[illegible?] and resided on a farm in Otranto township, where her husband died Dec. 18, 1910.

To this [illegible:?] were born nine children. They are Mrs. Clara Thompson of [illegible:M?] Minn., Otto, Mrs. Han[illegible: Hannah Martin?] Charley, Eddie, Alf, [illegible: Mense?], Mrs. [illegible:?] Martin and George, all of this community. Besides these she leaves to mourn her departure 21 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Charley Moen, of [illegible: O?] Sask., Canada, and a brother [illegible: residing?] in Norway.

In 1916 she moved from the farm to make her home in Lyle, but on account of failing health she dispose of her home in 1926 and moved on Aug. 1, to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. G. A. Martin.

She was confined to her bed the past two years, and passed away peacefully on Jan. 5, 1929, at the age of 70 years, 1 months, 30 days.

A kind and loving mother is now at rest. Blessed be her memory.
