George Nesse obituary

George Nesse, a son of Martin Nesse, residing south east of Mona, went rabbit hunting Saturday in company with a number of other boys and met with an accident from which he died Monday morning. He had wounded a rabbit which he was trying to kill with the butt end of a gun when it accidentally discharged, the ball entering his limb just above the knee, passing upward into his body. Dr. Cobb of Mona and Dr. Bundy, of this place made a careful examination of the wound Sunday, but give up all hopes of saving the young man's life.

Last Rites Held For Gustav Nesset At Schutte Funeral Home Friday Afternoon

Funeral services were conducted for Gustav Nesset on Friday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home at Austin [Minnesota] at 1:30 o'clock, with the Rev. Noss in charge of the services. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery south of Mona, Iowa.

Gustav Johnson Nesset was born August 27, 1872 in Mitchell county, Iowa, and passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 1942, after suffering a stroke the day before.

Funeral services for Harlan L. Nelson, 64, lifelong resident of Otranto township, who died at Mitchell County memorial hospital July 31, were held August 3 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Einar Unseth officiating.

Harlan LeRoy Nelson was born February 15, 1909, the son of Fred and Carrie (Johnson) Nelson. He was baptized, confirmed and remained a lifelong member of the Mona Lutheran church. Mr. Nelson attended the Mona grade school and was graduated from Lyle high school.

AUSTIN -- A memorial service for Bernette C. Nelson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church in Mona, Iowa, with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona.

Mrs. Nelson, 96, a resident of St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, died May 31 at Austin Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 30, 1907, in Nevada Township, Mower County. On Nov. 21, 1928, she married Ernest C. Nelson in Lyle. She had lived in Austin since 1978. She was a member of the Mona Lutheran Church.

Funeral services for Miss Hazel Muldown, 69, were held Friday, January 10 at Bonnerup & Son Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea, with the Rev. Roger Allen officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Mona, Saturday.

Miss Muldown died Tuesday, January 7 at Methodist hospital in Rochester.

Hazel I. Muldown, the daughter of Ben and Anna (Erickson) Muldown, was born at Toeterville January 30, 1900.

Funeral services for Donald Morgan, 66, were held Tuesday, August 16 at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with the Rev. M. Johnson of Our Savior's Lutheran church, Lyle officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mona.

Donald Morgan, son of Charles and Ella Morgan, was born April 17, 1900 at Minneapolis, Minn. He moved to Lyle at a very early age, and had continued to live there for the past 60 years.

Funeral services for Jurine C. Myhre, 91, of St. Ansgar, who died Tuesday, October 11 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center, were held Thursday, October 13 at Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Gaylord Grant officiating.

Miss Myhre was born May 17, 1897 in Mona, the daughter of Jacob and Karen Myhre. She was baptized and confirmed at Mona Lutheran church and attended school in Mona.

Amanda Marie Mortensen was born Oct. 23, 1896, in Lyle, Minn., the daughter of Jens P. Mortensen and Anna S. Hansen.

A lifelong resident of Lyle, she graduated from Lyle High School and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and ALCW.

Miss Mortensen worked as a telephone operator, then was employed by the Lyle Canning Factory, was a theatre ticket sales person and a clerk at Martin and Fossey and John Hanson General Stores.

She died Feb. 13, 1987, at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin, Minn.

Last Friday came the sad news of the death of Mrs. H. L. Miles, who died a her home east of St. Ansgar on that morning. Only one short week before a little son, their first born, came to gladden their home, but alas! the angel of death has now robbed that home of the mother and wife.

Died Suddenly

The many friends of Tom Martin were shocked Monday morning when they learned of his sudden death which occurred at his home that morning. Mr. Martin had been pumping water for the stock when all at once he appeared to be out of breath and fell over. His son immediately rushed to aid him but he died in a few minutes.

Clara Myhre obituary

Miss Clara Myhre the sixteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Myhre died at the home of her parents on First Street, Tuesday morning about seven o'clock.

Clara was born on Oct. 2nd, 1887 and was one of a family of five children. For a year and a half she had not been well but the immediate cause of her death was pneumonia and pleurisy, with which she had suffered three weeks.
