Harlan L. Nelson Funeral Held At Mona Lutheran

Funeral services for Harlan L. Nelson, 64, lifelong resident of Otranto township, who died at Mitchell County memorial hospital July 31, were held August 3 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Einar Unseth officiating.

Harlan LeRoy Nelson was born February 15, 1909, the son of Fred and Carrie (Johnson) Nelson. He was baptized, confirmed and remained a lifelong member of the Mona Lutheran church. Mr. Nelson attended the Mona grade school and was graduated from Lyle high school.

On April 1, 1938 he married Joy Watkinson.

He is survived by his wife, Joy; four sons, Fred of Rolla, Mo.; Jerry of Columbus, Mo.; Tom of Osage and Dick of Ankeny; two daughters, Mary and Patricia, both of Iowa City; two brothers, Ernest of Albert Lea, Minn. and Vernon of Conger, Minn.; one sister, Grace Anderson of N. St. Paul, Minn.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clayton and Morris.

Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Mona, with the Rev. Unseth in charge of the committal services.
