Amanda Marie Mortensen was born Oct. 23, 1896, in Lyle, Minn., the daughter of Jens P. Mortensen and Anna S. Hansen.

A lifelong resident of Lyle, she graduated from Lyle High School and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and ALCW.

Miss Mortensen worked as a telephone operator, then was employed by the Lyle Canning Factory, was a theatre ticket sales person and a clerk at Martin and Fossey and John Hanson General Stores.

She died Feb. 13, 1987, at St. Olaf Hospital, Austin, Minn.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Katherine Howard; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jay and Selma Mortensen, Orville and Laura Mortensen, Lloyd Mortensen.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Amanda's life was one of helping others. She leaves beautiful memories. Blessed be her memory.

Funeral services were held Feb. 17, 1987, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lyle, Rev. Harold Luecke officiating. Charles Ekle was soloist and David Dahlqust, organist.

Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa, with pallbearers David Howard, James Howard, Richard Hollerud, Todd Hollerud, George Roberts, Verner Peterson. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
