OBITUARY.

Mrs. Mabel B. Nicol, whose maiden name was Vaughn was born in Mona, Iowa, Sept. 17th, 1878, and died at her home in Waterloo, Ia., Dec. 6th, 1901, of typhoid complications and peritonitis. She was married to LeRoy C. Nicol June 21st, 1899. To this union was born one child, Bula Jessie. now six months old. The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Vaughn of a family of six, Mrs. Vaughn is now the only surviving member.

John Olson Gone

John Olson Gone

This was the sad message passed around among John's friends Thursday morning. It had been known for some time that he was not well but hope was entertained that he would recover, and return well from the hospital where he had been for a couple weeks. His condition became serious the first of the week, and Wednesday, he became unconscious, and friends knew that the end was near. John was a favorite and his many friends deeply regret his departure.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon.

The funeral of the late John Olsen was held at the Lutheran church last Saturday and was largely attended. Rev. Moe, who had charge of the service, spoke in both languages, first using the Norwegian and following immediately with a short sermon in the English. Both messages were full of hope and cheer for the bereft family, and a solemn warning to the many friends of the deceased. The speaker emphasized the brevity of life and the urgent necessity of being prepared not only to live but to die.

Miss Ella Olson, daughter of Hans Olson, died Monday evening. She had been suffering with consumption for about 4 years. Deceased was about 20 years old and leaves several sisters and one brother besides her father to mourn her departure. The funeral was held at Mona and interment was made in Sunny Side cemetery.

DIED-- at her home 4 miles northwest of town on Tuesday, June 1, of consumption, Mrs. Hans Olson. Deceased was aged 40 years and leaves a husband and seven children.

The funeral occurred Monday. Rev. Olson, a brother of the bereft husband officiated at the home. A cortege of thirty teams followed the remains to Mona Church where the regular ceremonies were held by Rev. Eggen after which the remains were interred at the Mona Lutheran Cemetery.

WALTER OLSON

Walter Olson, 63, died Thursday at his home in Minneapolis after suffering a heart attack.

Surviving are his widow: five brothers, Alvin (Abby), Noble and Lloyd of Lyle, Sidney and Willis of Austin; four sisters, Mrs. Frances Zerck, Mrs. Palma Newman, Mrs. John (Annie) Doyle, Miss Olive Olson, Rochester.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at Mona, Iowa.

DIED -- On Sunday morning, October 6th, Mrs. Serina Olson, aged 65 years. Mrs. Olson had been sick but a very short time and it was not considered that her condition was particularly dangerous, but she took a sudden change for the worse and she only lingered a few short hours. The disease was fatty degeneration of the heart. She leaves two sons and one daughter to mourn her loss. The remains were interred Tuesday in Mona cemetery.

Mrs. Osman Olson died very suddenly last Saturday evening. She was taken suddenly ill about 11 o'clock a. m., with an ailment which the physicians termed "gall stone colic," and although every possible remedy was applied, she died about six p. m., the same day. The remains were interred in Mona cemetery Thursday, Rev. Eggen officiating. She leaves a husband and five small children who have the sympathy of the community.

1872 Sam Olson 1960

Sam Olson was born Sept. 18, 1872, at Fla- Dahl, Norway, the son of Amund and Helge Olson.

Mr. Olson resides in Lyle. He was a railway employee and later worked as a plasterer and stone mason. On Dec. 12, 1893, he was united in marriage with Ida Arneson at Lyle.

Mr. Olson died March 31, 1960, at St. Olaf Hospital after being ill 14 months. He was very generous and a lover of nature and the great outdoors. He will be remembered as a fisherman, hunter and trapper.

Mrs. Carrie Olson, 83, died this morning at the Mankato Lutheran Home, Mankato, after being in ill health the past year.

She formerly resided at 511 Harmon, and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Henry Frese (Madeline), St. Paul, Mrs. Marion Wynia (Hazel), Mankato, Miss Eleanor Olson, Chicago; a son, Kenneth Olson, El Segundo, Calif.

Funeral services for Mr. August Olson, 77, of Mona, were held Sunday, July 17, 1955 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanford O. Stenson officiating.

August Olson, son of Andrew and Johanna Olson, was born August 2, 1877 in Smaalene, Norway. In 1882 he came to this country with his parents and had since resided in the Mona community. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, February 20, at the Christian and Missionary Alliance church for J. F. Ogden, 60, who died at his home in Osage on Monday morning. He had been in failing health for some time. The Rev. Wallace Anderson officiated and burial was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Mrs. Sam Olson died at her home west of Lyle, Sunday morning, Mar. 3. Had she lived one more day, she would have reached her 77th birthday.

Ida Arneson, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Arneson, was born March 4, 1863 in the state of Wisconsin. At the age of one, she moved with her parents to Mower County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran church.

Dies Following Stroke

Osage, Iowa, Jan. 28- Henry Olswold, 56, died Wednesday evening at his farm home west of her following a stroke of paralysis suffered that afternoon.

Born in Nebraska, Mr. Olswold came to Lyle, Minn., as a young man and married Lily Bagstad.

Surviving are his widow and two children, Clarence of Lyle, Minn., and Mae at home, two sisters, Mrs. Clara Hanson and Mrs. Hans Richardson and one brother, Chris Olswold, all of Lyle, Minn.

Stena Hemsing was born Nov. 27, 1871 in Mitchell County, Iowa, and passed away March 20th, 1934 at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 23 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Eggen. On March 29, 1899 she was united in marriage to Asmun Olson of Lyle, where they have since resided. She was always an active member of the Lyle Lutheran church and Ladies Aid.

Herman Olson, eldest son of Ole Hovilson and Bertha K. Olswold, was born the 14th day of March, 1856, at Olswold Loiten Hedemarken, and died June 19, 1933, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 5 days. In 1863, he with the family moved to Aasgaard in Starrge. In 1864 his father passed away, and about a year later the family moved to Torpen Nordere Land, his mother's birthplace. There he grew up and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In 1873 he emigrated to the United States and located at Waukon, Iowa.
