OBITUARY MRS BERTHA OLSON-
HELGESON

Mrs. Bertha Olson-Helgeson was born in Telemarken Norway, March 8, 18[illegible: 64?] and passed away at St. Olaf hospital at Austin August 27, 1940 at the age of [illegible: 76, 5 months and 19 days.]

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Mona-Lyle Lutheran church more than half a century.

In June 1886 she came to the US, and on September 13 of the same year she was united in marriage to Hans Helgeson. Ten children were born to them, nine of whom survive her husband passed away seven years ago.

The children surviving are: Gena, Mrs. A. J. Larson, of Austin, Ole living near Lyle, Hans of Austin, Clara at home, Anna Mrs. J. H. Malloy and Hannah, Mrs. Kelly George, Austin, Henry at home, Helen Mrs. A. R. Silbuagh and Cladys Mrs. Kenneth Nelson of Austin. There are also 7 grand children.

In the death of Mrs. Helgeson the community loses a woman of rare worth, genuine, generous and loyal. She was the kind of woman who has made the world a better place in which to live. Her children found in her not only their closest friend [illegible:but?] a mother whose example set for them a high standard of life. She will be sadly missed by her family and those who knew her best.

The funeral was held Friday after noon with services at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 at the Lutheran church in Lyle. Burial was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Mother's hands that did so much for
us,
How helplessly they lay.
God knew they worked continuously,
But they are still today.
We loved her, ah, no tongue can tell
How much we moved her and how
well.
God loved her too, an thought it
best,
To take her home with Him to rest.

Mrs. Fred Klawetter of St. Paul, a niece of Mrs. Helgeson came to at [illegible:?] funeral.
