Sam Olson was born Sept. 18, 1872, at Fla- Dahl, Norway, the son of Amund and Helge Olson.

Mr. Olson resides in Lyle. He was a railway employee and later worked as a plasterer and stone mason. On Dec. 12, 1893, he was united in marriage with Ida Arneson at Lyle.

Mr. Olson died March 31, 1960, at St. Olaf Hospital after being ill 14 months. He was very generous and a lover of nature and the great outdoors. He will be remembered as a fisherman, hunter and trapper.

Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Saturday, April 2, at the Worlein Funeral Home, the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa.

Mr. Olson is survived by four sons, Lafayette and Raymond of Minneapolis, Bennie of Albert Lea. Melvin of Auburn, Me.; three daughters, Mrs. H. O. Johnson (Sadie), Mrs. Donald Morgan (Laure), Lyle, Mrs. Albert Olson (Irene), Norwalk, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Dennis, Austin, Mrs. Emil Schwanke (Hannah), Mrs. John Peterson (Julie), Lyle; a brother, Ole of Lyle.

Out-of-town persons attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Thane Town, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Olson, Albert Lea; Mrs. Emme Berg, Ellendale; Mr. and Mrs. [illegible:?] Mrs. Shirley Olson, Minneapolis.
