Bernette C. Nelson -- Austin

AUSTIN -- A memorial service for Bernette C. Nelson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church in Mona, Iowa, with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona.

Mrs. Nelson, 96, a resident of St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, died May 31 at Austin Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 30, 1907, in Nevada Township, Mower County. On Nov. 21, 1928, she married Ernest C. Nelson in Lyle. She had lived in Austin since 1978. She was a member of the Mona Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Erling B. (Dorothy "Lyn") of Mason City, Iowa, and Gary F. (Sharon) of Hastings, Minn.; a daughter, Cleo M. Nelson Christensen of Austin; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, a sister and a brother preceded her in death.
