RESTON -- Grace M. Prouty, 95, a former area farm homemaker, died Wednesday (Feb, 2, 1994) at Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.

Grace M. Williams was born Nov. 28, 1898, in Lyle, attended Lyle schools and graduated from Lyle High School. On April 8, 1923, she married Charles H. Prouty in Lyle. They lived in Austin and farmed in the Pine Island area before moving to Preston in 1945. Her husband died Dec. 4, 1979. Mrs. Prouty lived in Canton from 1983 until entering the nursing home Apri1 18, 1986. She was a member of the Lyle Willing Workers and Henrytown Lutheran Church.

DIED.

WORDSWORTH -- At Lyle, Feb. 3, 1892, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Wordsworth.

Mrs. Wordsworth has been stopping at her father's, Frank Herzog, the past winder. The funeral will be Friday and the burial at Woodbury cemetery.

GOSLEE-- In London, Freeborn county, July 29, Mary Ellen Goslee, wife of W. N. Goslee, aged nearly 44 years.

SHARP -- In London, Freeborn county, Tuesday evening, July 28, Arne Sharp, aged 18 years.

GOSLEE - In the town of Lyle Saturday, April 18, 1891, Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Goslee, wife of Timothy F. Goslee, aged 56 years. Ann E. Watkins was born in Lladenbaden, Radnen Shire, North Wales, October 15, 1834. She came to the United States in 1845, and to Minnesota in 1856. She united with the Methodist church in 1863, and continued a faithful member of that denomination until her death. She leaves two sons, Wilbour C. and G. S. Goslee. She has been a resident of Lyle for the past thirty years and was highly regarded by all who knew her.

-- Died in London township last Wednesday evening of cancer, Mrs. Zillah T. wife of James H. Goslee, aged 53 years. She was the daughter of Rev. Alanson Beach of Lyle. She was born and reared in New York state and came with her folks to Mower County in Nov. 1856. About two years later she was married to Mr. Goslee. She had two children, only one of whom, Henry, is now living. Funeral services were held at the house Friday morning by Rev. Gilberson, of Lyle.

Another Pioneer Gone

Nelson Clark, of Otranto, died at the residence of his son in Lyle village, last Friday morning. H was 72 years old last May. He was born and reared in Chatauqua (sic) county, N. Y. At an early day he came west to Wisconsin, removing thence to Missouri. He came with his family to Otranto about 19 years ago. He was widely known in the vicinity of the state line. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. D. Belden, of this city, at Minnereka, Sunday noon. A very large number of friends was present.

Most of your readers have heard of the death of Van Camp. He and two other men were in the act of replacing the trucks under a car when the support gave way and his head was caught between the axle of the trucks he was moving and the step of the car. The top of his head was completely severed. It was a very sad affair. The afflicted ones have the sympathy of all. His family have returned to their home in Otranto. What a sad home. No life insurance or pecuniary appropriation from the company can compensate for the loss they have sustained.

Lyman St. John, one of the old settlers of Lyle died at his old home Tuesday May 8. The funeral services were held at the house and his remains were buried in Woodbury cemetery Friday May 11. Mr. St. John was over 80 years of age and had been a resident of Lyle for many years. He leaves many friends and relatives in that vicinity.

Another Old Resident Gone.

George Sharp residing on the Monroe Peck place in Austin township died of typhoid pneumonia on Sunday Sept. 11. He had been ailing for two or three weeks and was taken worse Saturday night and passed suddenly away. He was 39 years of age, had resided in Mower county about twenty years. His wife was a daughter of Mr. Lang of London township. He was a member of the Lyle Masonic Lodge and belonged to the Austin Masonic relief association. Mr. Sharp was a man well liked by his neighbors and in his death the community loses a good citizen.

Gone to Rest.

Edgar Smith died at Lyle, Thursday, July 28, aged between 70 and 80 years, and was buried Saturday at 10 o'clock. Mr. Smith was an old settler in the county, setting at Lyle years ago. He afterwards moved to Austin where he resided until last spring, when he returned to his farm at Lyle. Verily, the scythe of time is performing its work slow but sure, and the old settlers are being removed from our midst one by one, never to return. May peace be with his ashes.

--Died, in the town of Lyle, Friday night, July 27, Mrs. Christina, relict of Rev. S. Loomis, aged 27 years. Mrs. Loomis was born in Penn., but when very young moved to Ohio. She was married when 19 years old at Wooster, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Loomis lived 12 years in Indiana and 27 years ago came to Lyle. Mr. Loomis died some 20 years ago from disease contracted in the army service.

-- O. B. Dearborn of Lyle township, died last Sunday morning. Mr. Dearborn was a very fine young man, and highly respected by a large circle of friends. He leaves a wife and two children. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, conducted by a Universalist minister from Osage. He was buried, with Masonic honors, in the cemetery near Mr. Beach's.

-Suicide. -Saturday afternoon last, Frank Machack, a Bohemian, living in Lyle township, about twelve miles south of Austin, committed suicide by shooting himself through the left breast with a shot gun. He was found dead in his own yard soon after the shooting, with the gun lying by his side.

-Mrs. Nancy Kilgore, widow of the late T. S. Kilgore, departed this life after a brief but severe illness July 24, 1881.

Mrs. K. was born in Cambridge, Mass., Aug. 28, 1818. Her health was imperfect for many years, yet she was able to discharge her household duties and to care for her family which she loved with sincerest devotion. An excellent wife and mother and a true friend, she has gone from her material surroundings to the companionship of husband and friends who had gone before, and who came, to receive and convoy her to the land of the blest.

--Mrs. T. S. Kilgore died at her home in Lyle township, July 24th--aged 63 years. She was the widow of the late Timothy S. Kilgore, who died Christmas last.

FUNERAL OBSEQUIES.-- The funeral of Willie-- son of J. C. Dearbon (sic)-- was held at the Minnereka School House, on Thursday last. Rev. Nelson Wilder officiated.

Thy son has left this world of care--
His feet have climbed the golden stair.

In Lyle township, Mower county, Minn., August 10th, 1868, Mr. William Dearborn, aged 35 years.

A nephew of Sanford Tanner has come to disinter his remains and take them from Woodbury cemetery back to New York for burial.

TANNER- On Sunday, January 24, 1892, at Albert Lea, Minn., Sanford Tanner, mostly of old age.

Sanford Taner was born in Rensselaserville, Albany county, N. Y., in 1798. He made his start in life by hard work; made fanning mills and peddled them, laid miles of stone fence, laid wall in the construction of the Erie canal.

WILDER WILL BE BURIED AT LYLE
Banker and Manufacturer Dies at Minnetonka Home

Funeral services for Alanson B Wilder, 70, Minneapolis banker and manufacturer who died early Sunday at his Lake Minnetonka home, will be at Scottish Rite temple Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., with interment at Lyle, Minn., where Mr. Wilder was born in 1864.

At his home at Otranto Station, Iowa, Wednesday evening April 6, 1898, of Bright's disease, David West, aged 75 years.

He was born in Stockton, Chatauqua county, New York, four miles northeast of Lake Chatauqua, March 9, 1823. he grew up there, receiving a common school education. He was married about the year 1844 to Miss Harriet Woodworth, a native of the same county. There the three children, Charles L., Jeannette, and James E. were born.

OBITUARY

Donna Roe, the little twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vance Hotson was born Jan. 5th, 1918, and died April 16th, 1919, aged 15 months and 11 days. She leaves to mourn her loss her father, mother, a brother Dale, a sister Wilma, and her little twin brother, Dean Richard. She had been in perfect health, but an attack of heart failure rendered all human aid unavailable, and the suddenness of this sad bereavement has brought a sorrow to the family and the community that only time and faith in the Higher life can heal.

C. A. HILDEGRAND FUNERAL

The remains of the late C. A. Hildebrand were brought to Lyle from Minneapolis last week Friday, and laid to rest in the family lot in Woodbury Cemetery. The funeral was held in the Congregational church, being in charge of Rev. Jackson of Mason City, a former pastor and friend of the family. The services were attended by friends and former as socialites, and as a token of respect the business places were closed during the hour of service.

Obituary Wyborny

Albert Roy Wyborny, youngest son of Mrs. Jane Wyborny, died Friday at the hospital in Wadean, Minn. After an illness of only a few days, an operation was found necessary and complications followed, causing his death.
