Shedd Wilder obituary

OBITUARY

Shedd Wilder was found dead here Monday morning in the brick building which he recently purchased. Coroner Henslin of Le Roy was called and said death was due to a hemorrhage.

Mr. Wilder came here Saturday evening accompanied by Harry Sherman and Fred Trowbridge and a drayman from Austin. Mr. Trowbridge and the drayman returned to Austin the same evening but Mr. Sherman remained with Mr. Wilder. Mr. Sherman said he found Mr. Wilder dead about 7:20 and notified relatives.

Funeral services for Albert Clauson, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday of last week were held at the family home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Brenna of Adams officiating, and interment was made in the Woodbury cemetery.

Mr. Clauson was a son of Engebregt and Carrie Clauson and was born at Dorchester, Ia., October 5, 1870. He was married to Bell Bergerude October 27, 1892. To them three children were born; Clinton A., of Waterville, Maine; Everett H., of De Witt, Iowa; and Bernice who lives at home.

Benjamin Vaughan Wilder, eldest son of Nelson and Maria H. Wilder, was born at Otranto, Iowa on the old home farm, Nov. 19, 1862, where he grew to manhood.

He was married to Alberta A. Bowers, June 28, 1882, and to them nine children were born, two of whom died in infancy, and Mildred at the age of six years. The living children are Gladys Jacobus of Hedges, Mont. Grace McGrew of Minneapolis, Delma Dye of Cottonwood, Idaho, Glenn B. Wilder of Forrestburg, S. D. Floyd E. Wilder of Howard, S. D., and Elva May Wilder at home in Mitchell, S. D.

Marvin Clark obituary

OBITUARY

Marvin N. Clark, 84 years of age, an old settler of Lyle Township passed away at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Ed Schlick at Mason City, Friday morning. Death terminated an illness of two weeks following an attack of the grip.

The deceased was one of the early settlers of this township, where he resided until a few years ago, when he went to Mason City.

Frank Cafourek died at his home in London at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon after a four weeks illness with heart trouble.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon with services at the house at 1 o'clock, J. R. Lukes officiating, and at 2 o'clock at the M. A. Hall in London, Rev. Kuntz of Glenville officiating.

Interment was made at Woodbury cemetery.

Peterman Funeral Tuesday

The funeral of the late James Peterman, who died at the hospital at Austin Saturday on account of burns caused by an explosion at the old Peter Johnson farm in Lyle township Friday morning, was held at the Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in Woodbury cemetery.

The deceased suffered intensely, was conscious to the very last and welcomed death to end the excruciating pain.

It becomes our sad duty, this week, to chronicle the death of one who has for years been actively identified with the life of the community, and was known by many of our readers. For more than half a century he has made his home on a farm near Otranto, and for a number of years, besides operating the farm, has purchased poultry, becoming acquainted with most of the people in that section. He had many friends and enjoyed meeting them. Altho he had not been well for years, he was cheerful, happy and always busy.

Frank R. Wilder, son of A. J. and Catherine (Phelps) Wilder, was born April 18, 1841, in Chautauqua county, N. Y. When he was four years of age his parents moved from New York to Michigan, and later to Rock county, Wisconsin, remaining there until 1854, when they came to Mitchell county, Iowa.

Dorothy Charlotte Huston was born at Rose Creek, Minnesota, June 9, 1918. She had always been in delicate health and about 2 months ago contracted a bad cold which developed into bronchitis. She died suddenly Monday about 1 o'clock. She is survived by the sorrowing parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Huston. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Moe, Wednesday, and interment was made in Woodbury cemetery.

Henry O. Barnum passed away at the A. B. Wilder home in Minneapolis Tuesday morning March 27th, 1917.

The deceased was born in New York state June 6th, 1837. He came here in the early days, after a few years residence in Wisconsin. He was a half brother of Wm. Leslie Barnum who lived here for many years and passed away on Nov. 10, 1906.

His father Orin Barnum died January 27th, 1875. His step-mother, Caroline Kingsley-Barnum passed away April 1st, 1865.

Mrs. Florance A. Clark age 67 years, 6 months, 13 days died Saturday, Feb. 5, 1916 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. W. Carlson, 4820 Nokomis Ave., Minneapolis, where she had made her home since the death of her husband, James K. Clark.

Death came after a short illness with bronchial trouble. Mrs. Clark was well known in this vicinity having lived here most of her life.

Miss Elenor Brooks, who has been very poorly for some time, passed away at the home of her uncle J. L. Hughson last Friday. It had been known for some time that she could not live long, yet there ever was that hopefulness and struggle to overcome the dread disease which claimed the entire family.

Gertrude May Schumacher obituary

Gertrude May Schumacher, the 11 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schumacher, passed away Tuesday after a few weeks illness. The immediate cause of her death was Brights Disease. Gertrude May was born in May 1903 and was the eldest in the family of five children. The funeral was held Friday afternoon from the house and interment will be made in Woodbury cemetery.

Elizabeth Bedford obituary

OBITUARY

Mrs. Elizabeth Bedford of Woodbury died at four o'clock Wednesday morning October 21, 1914 at the home of her mother, Mrs. M. A. Glines of Austin where she had been for the last three weeks. Death was caused by a complication of diseases. She had been in poor health for a number of years and though a great sufferer, bore her trials patiently.

She was born September 20, 1873, at Lyle, Minn., and on July 10, 1889 was married to R. J. Bedford at Austin.
