Lila Barclay obituary

Lila Larson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Larson, was born Feb. 23, 1905 near Mona. She was baptized and confirmed into the Norwegian Lutheran church. March 4, 1924 she was united in marriage to Emanual M. Barclay. To this union were born four children. Besides her husband Mrs. Barclay is survived by her children, Milo age 6; Robert 4; Audrey 3; and Richard 8 months; also her parents and 5 sisters and 5 brothers: Mrs. B. Chistopherson of Ostrander, Minn., Mrs. O. Anderson and Mrs. C. McCarney, Austin; Mrs. Lee Cole, Lenard and LaDue Larson, Jewell, Iowa; Mrs.

Theo. Arneson obituary

Theo. Arneson, one of this community's old and respected citizens died rather suddenly Monday evening at 11:05 from angina pectoris of the heart, at his home, west of Mona. The deceased was a very conscientious citizen, and kind neighbor. He was about 73 years of age. The funeral will be held at the Mona church, Friday afternoon at 12:30.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Esther Baker At Pleasant Hill

Graveside prayer services were held Monday, May 26 by Rev. Unseth at Pleasant Hill cemetery, Mona, for the cremated ashes of Mrs. Esther (Dock) Baker, 73, of Lake Worth, Fla., brought here by her sister, Mrs. Enid Hall of Lake Worth.

Esther Baker, daughter of Peter and Ella (Bjork) Dock was born at Hawley, Minn. She lived in Lyle many years and attended Lyle school and graduated from there and Nurses Training at Austin and was employed as an R.N. at the Colonial hospital, Rochester.

THE OBITUARY OF HALVOR O. BLAKESTAD

Halvor O. Blakestad was born in Otranto Township, Mitchell County Iowa, Jan. 17th, 1864, and died after a lingering illness May 21st, at 11:15 A. M. Thus he reached the age of 60 years 4 months and 4 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. Blakestad, who came here from Norway when they were but children. They were among the first settlers in Otranto Township.

The departed made his home here always as he grew up, except a few years when he lived in North Dakota.

Mrs. Guri Bakke, wife of Knute Bakke, who has been an invalid for nearly 25 years died last Sunday morning aged 63 years.

She was married to Mr. Bakke in 1864 and came to Mona in 1880. They have had 3 children two of whom are living, Olaf aged 30 years and Serine aged 23 years.

She was buried Tuesday in the Mona cemetery, Rev. Eggen officiating. A large number of friends and neighbors came to pay their last respects to the old lady.

Funeral services for a lifelong Mona area farmer, Peter E. Anderson, 80, were held Wednesday, August 13 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. S. Klemesrud of Highland, Minn. officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Mr. Anderson died Sunday, August 10 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.

Peter Edwin Anderson was born February 21, 1889 on the farm where he had lived his entire life west of Mona in Mitchell County. He was the son of Andrew and Camilla Anderson.

Last Thursday afternoon at 4:50 the death angel came to relieve Adolph Anderson, who has been a patient and constant sufferer with Consumption of the Bladder for many years. It had been known for some time that he could not live long, as he was continually growing weaker and weaker.

The funeral was held from the home Sunday afternoon by Rev. Hanna[illegible] and at Mona church at 3 o'clock by Rev. Dietrichson.

Halvor Anderson of Mona Suddenly But Peacefully Answers the Final Summons.

Another of the oldest inhabitants of this vicinity has passed away. Tuesday afternoon Mr. Halvor Anderson Lysager, one of the oldest residents of Mitchell county suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at his home in Otranto township. Mr. Anderson had done no active labor for the last seven years since his severe illness but with exception of an attack of illness in 1892 had enjoyed fairly good health up to the day of his death.

Andrew P. Anderson, who for 20 years has lived 1 3/4 miles, west of Mona, passed away Monday morning at 4 o'clock. Mr. Anderson had suffered for some time with diabetes but was only confined to his bed two days.

He was born in Holt, Norway Dec. 20th 1849 and came to America in the fall of 82, two years after his marriage. The deceased was a number of years a member of the school board at Mona and was good citizen and neighbor.

Mrs. Maren Anderson was born in Grue Parish, Solor Norway, Sept. 29, 1833. She emigrated to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pederson, in 1853. She was married Sept. 17, of the same year to Halvor Anderson at Milwaukee, Wis., where they spent the winter, coming to Mitchell, Co., Iowa, in the summer of 1854 and settled on a homestead.

OBITUARY

Mrs. Amundson passed away at her home in Mona Friday morning, after weary months of suffering, the past nine months of which she was confined to her bed.

Rev. A. Elmer Moe conducted the funeral service which was held at Mona Sunday afternoon, and was attended by a large number of friends and neighbors.

The deceased was born Feb. 24th, 1842 in Telemarken Norway, and was married to Torger Amundson Aug. 1, 1870. To them three children were born, two of whom survive: Mrs. Geo. Larson and Martin Amundson, both of this vicinity.

SWAIN ANDERSON PASSED AWAY.

Friday morning Oct. 5th about 7:45[illegible?] passed away at the hospital in Austin where he had been the past four weeks. From the beginning of his illness his recovery was a doubt and he repeatedly asked to be taken back to Lyle to his friends, expressing a feeling that he would never be able to recover and return home well. [illegible: All?] what medical science could do did not avail, and death, the common leveler of all could not be stayed.

Death is no respecter of person, for it calls to old and young alike, and it seems that this has been a busy week for the never tiring grim reaper, who breaks the family circles, rends the loving home ties, and leaves the crushed and sorrowing ones alone with their grief.

One of those called home this week was little Garfield Orris Anderson son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson. The little fellow was taken violently ill about two weeks ago, and was a constant sufferer until the end came Sunday afternoon.

Obituary.

Mrs. Anderson was born near Christiana, Norway. Nov. 26, 1860. In Feb. 1885 she married Thomas Craig of New Castle on Tyre, with whom she has a son Adolph who is now 14 years old and mourns the loss of a dear mother. Mr. Craig died from consumption when Adolph was only a year old.

She was married to Mr. Anderson Oct. 7, 1893 and came to Lyle Oct. 10th.
