Funeral services for R. A. (Art) Anderson, 85, who died at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin Friday, April 4, were held Monday, April 7 at Our Savior's Lutheran church, Lyle. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Ralph Arthur Anderson was born March 13, 1884 at Lyle, son of Andrew H. and Barbro Blakestad Anderson. He attended schools at Lyle and Crookston, Minn. He worked at the bank at Rose Creek, Minn. and then at Crookston seven years. Upon his father's death in 1910 he came to Lyle and entered the First National Bank as cashier and vice president. This bank had been founded by his father in 1888, and upon its sale in 1939 to the Farmers State Bank in Lyle, Mr. Anderson went to work for L. R. Falk Construction Co. in St. Ansgar as bookkeeper and office manager until his retirement in 1961.
He was married to Anna Williams in Lyle August 26, 1916. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1966. He is survived by his wife, Anna; a daughter, Mrs. Walter J. (Annette) Paquette of Minneapolis; a son, Ralph Arthur Jr. of Miami, Fla; a sister, Mrs. B. J. (Bertha) Robertson of Minneapolis; and a brother; Guy Rufus, of Los Angeles, Calif.
Mr. Anderson was a charter member of our Savior's Lutheran church of Lyle and served as treasurer for 21 years. He was also treasurer of Pleasant Hill cemetery Association in Mona for 40 years. He served as mayor of Lyle for three term, and was also on the school board for seven years and active in community affairs.
His health had failed during the last five years, but he remained at his home in hi wife's care until March 8 when he contracted pneumonia and also a kidney infection.
