Services for Mrs. John Hanson held At Six Mile Grove

Funeral services for Mrs. John Hanson, 69 were held Monday, December 16, at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating and interment will be in Oakwood, Austin.

She passed away Friday, December 13, at Comforcare Nursing Home in Austin where she had been since her release from Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage following a stroke.

Norman Nelson Rites Held At Six Mile Grove

Norman Leslie Nelson, age 33, son of Nordahl and Lenore (Olson) Nelson, was born January 29, 1929 in Nevada township near Lyle, Minn.

He was baptized and confirmed in Six Mile Grove Lutheran church by the Rev. O. A. Langehough. He spent his life at the family farm east of Lyle, engaged in farming with his father.

He received his elementary education in District No. 11, also Lyle high school and the Minneapolis Society for the Blind.

Gilbert Nelson Funeral Held In Albert Lea

Funeral services for a former Lyle area farmer Gilbert T. Nelson, age, 75, were held at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, Tuesday, February 20 with the Rev. Otto Wedul officiating. Interment was in Six Mile Grove Lutheran cemetery. A nephew, the Rev. Orin Thompson of Minneapolis also gave a short sermonette.

Mr. Nelson died of a heart attack Saturday, evening, February 17 shortly after eating his evening meal.

Funeral services for Miss Anna Arneson, 87, were held Monday, December 4 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating and interment was in Six Mile Grove, Lutheran cemetery.

Anna Arneson, daughter of Lars and Martha Arneson was born February 20, 1874 on a farm in Nevada township. She resided there until her parents moved to Lyle in 1926, where she had resided up to the time of her death December 1.

Knute Rue Rites Held At Six Mile Grove

Knute Rue, age 93, a lifelong resident of the Six Mile Grove area, died at his farm home east of Lyle February 22 from infirmities of old age. He had been in failing health for several years.

Knute Rue, the son of Ole and Andi Rue, was born March 21, 1867 on the same farm that he had lived all his life. He was baptized and confirmed in Six Mile Grove Lutheran church and was engaged in farming until his health failed.

Funeral services for Theodore Enerson, 71, were held Friday, December 2 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating and interment was in the church cemetery.

Mabel Nelson Enerson, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin D. Nelson, was born September 30, 1889 in Nevada township, Mower county, Minnesota where she also attended grade school and grew to womanhood, and spent her entire life in this vicinity. She was baptized and confirmed at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church.

Clara Marie Jacobson, age 71 who passed away at the Falk Nursing Home in Stacyville June 29, was laid to rest Friday July 1. Services were at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Stanley Klemesrud was in charge of the committal rites. She had been hospitalized at the Mercy hospital in Mason City where she had surgery April 13, and never recovered.

Knut Lasten Rites Held At Six Mile Grove

One of Nevada township's oldest pioneers, Knut O. Lasten, 87, died at Mercy hospital in Mason City, Tuesday, March 22, after a three and a half weeks' illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating with interment in the church cemetery.

Knut O. Lasten was born July 5, 1872 in Nevada township, Mower county on a farm where he had resided all his life. He was the son of Ingeborg and Ole Lasten.

Funeral rites for Ingebright I. Anderson, 77, a lifelong Lyle area man and retired farmer, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage Wednesday, December 30 following several strokes, were held Saturday, January 2 at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating.

Mr. Anderson, who resided alone on a farm about five miles east of Lyle, was found by neighbor, Rufus Frank, on the floor of his home after suffering a stroke December 22.

Double Funeral Held Sunday For Harold Fossey's

The entire community was saddened last Thursday, March 9 of the tragic death of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fossey, prominent Mower county farm couple who lost their lives by smoke inhalation in a fire in their farm home northeast of Lyle.

Double funeral services were held Sunday, March 12 at Our Savior's Lutheran church, Lyle, with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, Mona.

RICHARD OLSON

Ricahard (sic) Olson, one of the oldest settlers of Nevada township died Thursday, Jan. 31, 1907, after a severe illness of two months, aged about 72 years. He has been in failing health for quite a while.

He was born in Norway and came to this country in 1851 on the same ship with J. Solner of Austin. he settled in Nevada about 1862. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Swenson, daughter of Hans Swenson. The family have since resided in Nevada.

ORIN H. BROWN

Orin H. Brown, whose death we noted last week, was born in St. Johnsville, N. Y., Aug. 19, 1841. He was reared there and when the war broke out he enlisted in Company B, 115th New York Vols., serving for over three years. He was at the front and was wounded at Chester Heights. He had an excellent record as a faithful and brave soldier.

Ole Aslakson died

Ole Aslakson, aged about 60 years, an old time resident of Nevada township, fell off of his high box wagon about half a mile south of town on Wednesday afternoon and was killed. He was discovered by little Annie Fink, aged ten years, who was coming along the road.

Aslakson had been in town during the afternoon and started home and later his team was running away. It went home and two of the sons quickly came to look after their father finding him dead. He leaves a wife and a large family of children.

Mrs. M. F. Sargent of Nevada township, passed away at 12:50, the noon hour on Decoration Day in a hospital in St. Paul. Mrs. Sargent was sick with gall stones and ten days previous to her demise she was taken to St. Paul for treatment and an operation. She was always rugged and hearty and her sudden passing away was a great shock to the many friends in this vicinity where she had always lived.

Chris Meyer daughters death notice

The family of Chris Meyer of Nevada township has been sadly afflicted. Their oldest daughter, Mrs. Lewis Levorson, died Dec. 12, at her home in Leeds, N. D., of typhoid fever. The body was brought to Nevada Friday for interment. Later news comes of the death of another daughter, Miss May Meyer, who was teaching at Leeds. She died of the same disease last week. Her body was expected at Lyle Monday night. It is indeed a sad affliction.

Melba L. Myhre, 99, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, March 18, 2016, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin.

Melba Luella was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Nevada Township, Mower County, Minnesota, to Hans and Mollie (Olson) Sampson. She attended country school and graduated from Lyle High School. She was a longtime devoted member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church in rural Lyle, Minnesota. Melba was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and all who were blessed to have known her.
