Knut Lasten Rites Held At Six Mile Grove

One of Nevada township's oldest pioneers, Knut O. Lasten, 87, died at Mercy hospital in Mason City, Tuesday, March 22, after a three and a half weeks' illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating with interment in the church cemetery.

Knut O. Lasten was born July 5, 1872 in Nevada township, Mower county on a farm where he had resided all his life. He was the son of Ingeborg and Ole Lasten.

He was a life-long member of Six-Mile Grove church, having been baptized and confirmed there by Rev. Clausen. On December 12, 1894, he was united in marriage to Sigre Flaten by the Rev. J. Mueller Eggen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a son, Henry. Survivors are three daughters, Miss Adeline Lasten, Mrs. C. J. (Alma) Anderson and Mrs. Jay (Selma) Mortenson, all of Lyle. Also one sister, Mrs. Helen Duenow of St. Ansgar. Five grandchildren, Mrs. J. L. (Shirley) Nelson of Wolf Point, Montana, James Mortenson, Honolulu, Hawaii, Marie Mortenson of Polson, Montana, Lois Mortenson of Minneapolis and Paul Anderson of Moorhead, Minn. Also three great-grandchildren, Dee Ann, David and Jayne Nelson and several nieces and nephews.
