Ben Jacobson Died Suddenly

Gus Jacobson and Fred Ulven of Rose Creek were in Lyle, Wednesday morning, making arrangements for the funeral of the former's brother, Ben Jacobson, who was found dead, in bed, that morning at the home of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Enright, who resides just east of Austin.

Although Mr. Jacobson had not been feeling well for some time, he went to the Enright farm, Monday, to help with the fall work. County Coronor, H. F. Peirson, pronounced the cause as heart disease. Mr. Jacobson was 52 years of age.

OBITUARY

Mary Jacobson, daughter of Andreas Anderson and Christiana Hanson, was born in Oster, Toten Norway, May 30, 1851. She came the United States with her parents when two years old, and settled in Nevada Township. She was confirmed at St. Ansgar, by Rev. Clausen. In 1868 she was married to Jacob Jacobson, by Rev. Clausen. They homesteaded in Nevada Township, where they continued to reside.

Mr. Jacobson, her husband, died in September, 1916.

Gullik Knutson died Tuesday February 14th at his home about a mile west of this place. Mr. Knutson has been in poor health for a number of years but more especially so this winter and his death had been daily expected for several weeks.

Mr. Knutson was a brother of G. K. Volstad and Halvor Volstad of Nevada and Peter Knutson of Clear Lake. He leaves a family of five children, three sons and two daughters. The funeral occurred yesterday at the Six Mile Grove church.

K. G. KNUTSON DIED MONDAY

Knut G. Knutson, son of Gullick Knutson Volstad, pioneer farmer of Lyle township, passed away Monday evening at St. Olaf Hospital at Austin after an illness of several weeks.

Mr. Knutson was born on the Volstad homestead in Torresdahl, near Kragaro, Norway, Nov. 26 1854 and came to the United States with his parents at the age of 22 years. The family settled on a farm four miles west of Lyle.

MRS. D. D. LIONE

Mrs. D. D. Lione, who has been in poor health for some time, passed away Monday evening at 7:30 at the hospital in Austin, where she had been for about three weeks. She was conscious to the very last and longed for the end to come. To her, death had no sting, but was a welcome transition from the mortal to the immortal. She was a faithful and devout Christian and endeavored by precept and example to live a Christian life. No one entered her home or came into her presence without being conscious of her implicit trust in the Heavenly Father.

Another of the Old pioneer Settlers has passed away. Thus one by one they are called to their eternal home and the place that has known them so long shall know them no more, except in memory.

Johannes Arneson was born in Lyster Prestejeld, Sogn, Norway, Jun 23, 1830 and died at his home in Nevada, Mower county, Minnesota, Sept. 20, 1913, being at the time of his death 83 years, 2 months and 28 days of age. In 1855 he was married to Martha Vold, who survives him. To this union were born eleven children of whom seven are now living.

On Friday afternoon, Dec. 2, the remains of the late Oliver Jacobson will be laid to rest in the Six Mile Grove Cemetery.

Oliver was born June 28, 1878, in Mower County and has made his home here most of his life. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Knut Jacobson, and was lifelong member of the Lutheran church.

Mrs. Bertha Anderson died at her home two miles northeast of Lyle last week. She leaves a sorrowing husband, seven children and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at Six Mile Grove church and were very largely attended. Rev. Eggen preached the sermon, after which she was laid to rest in the Six Mile Grove cemetery.

After an illness of a little over a year, Anton Arneson died last Friday night at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Arenson, two miles east of town. He was quite well known to the people of this vicinity having lived in this locality nearly all his life, with the exception of three years that he resided at Brown's Valley, Minn.

Frederick Swenson Dufty, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Dufty passed away at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. [illegible: G?] Swenson Wednesday evening March 26th at 10:30 after an illness of only a couple days, death being caused by pneumonia. Little Frederick had not seemed well for some time, but Monday was taken very sick and a doctor was called immediately.

The deceased was born Sept. 20th 1918, and leaves to mourn his sudden death, a father, mother and one sister. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the Six Mile Grove Church.

Guldbran Torsten Morstad, one of the oldest settlers of the county passed away at the home of his son. Torsten, in Nevada Township last Friday Oct. 6th. Besides being an old resident of the county, he was, at the time of his death conceded to be the oldest person living in this section, having commenced the last year before reaching the century mark. Until a few days before his death he was able to be about the place in his usual health, and retained his faculties remarkably well.

Theo. T. Austinson, who has been at the Thomas Hospital, Minneapolis since last Dec. 25th, passed away Fri.day and his parents brought the remains home, Saturday, for interment in the family lot at Six Mile Grove cemetery.

Theodore had never been very strong, and when a child was not expected to live for some time, yet he reached the age of 32 years. He was born on the home farm in Nevada Township May 26, 1886. Last September he was taken quite ill, and 3 months later went to the hospital in Minneapolis, hoping to get relief from that dread disease tuberculosis.

Rev. Moe went to Austin Saturday to conduct the funeral service of Thos Jenson, a member of the Six Mile Grove Congregation. M. Jensen was one of the early settlers of Mower County. For over 40 years he lived on a farm near Rose Creek, but during the past year has made his home at Austin. Interment was made at Enterprise.

The death of Mrs. Anna Hanson, who has been very ill for some time and an invalid for nearly eight years, occurred last Sunday, Feb. 18th at her late home in Six Mile Grove.

She was born in Oster Toten, Norway, March 16th, 1827. At the age of 21 years she left her native land and for about a year lived in Canada. In 1869 she came to Mower county Minnesota and settled in Nevada township where she lived until her death. She leaves a son Ole A. Hanson who has been her constant attendant thru her many years of illness.

The funeral of the late Engebrit Anderson was held at the Six Mile Grove church Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the church cemetery.

The deceased was born April 1st, 1850 in Sogn, Norway. He immigrated at the age of 12 with his parents and settled near Calmar, Ia., where he lived for about 5 years, when he came to Mower County and settled in Six Mile Grove, where he lived until his death.
