Gilbert Nelson Funeral Held In Albert Lea

Funeral services for a former Lyle area farmer Gilbert T. Nelson, age, 75, were held at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, Tuesday, February 20 with the Rev. Otto Wedul officiating. Interment was in Six Mile Grove Lutheran cemetery. A nephew, the Rev. Orin Thompson of Minneapolis also gave a short sermonette.

Mr. Nelson died of a heart attack Saturday, evening, February 17 shortly after eating his evening meal.

Gilbert Nelson, the son of Nels and (Christina Enerson) Nelson was born March, 8, 1886 in Nevada township. He received his education in the rural school also in Nevada township.

He was baptized, confirmed and married in the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church. He married Mabel Neversath, September 1, 1903 and the couple celebrated their Golden wedding in 1958 (sic). After their marriage they farmed in Nevada township and also Union township near Toeterville where they resided until their retirement in 1932 when they moved to Albert Lea.

Survivors are his wife, Mabel: two daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Bernette) Nelson, Albert Lea, Mrs. Oliver (Myra) Jacobson, Austin, Minnesota and one son Nordean, of Minneapolis; also nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; four brothers, Nordahl of Lyle, Helmer and Thorvald of Rose Creek and Joy of Adams,, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mrs. Ole (Sophie) Larson and Mrs. I. I. (Dena) Anderson and one brother, Herman of Vida, Montana.

Relatives attended from Freemont, Nebraska, Blue Earth, St. Peter, Minneapolis, Adams, Rose Creek, Austin and Lyle, Minn.
