Philip Church, 4, rural Osage, Iowa, died Friday at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital of injuries received in an accident at home.

He is survived by his parents, Dean and Lianna Church, rural Osage; two sisters, Sarah and Elizabeth, and one brother, Joshua, all at home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Almo Jahr, rural St. Ansgar, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Church, Stacyville, Iowa; maternal great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Johnson, rural St. Ansgar; paternal great grandmother, Mrs. Joseph Simon, Stacyville.

Funeral Services For Philip Church Held September 19 At Mona Lutheran Church

Funeral services for Philip A. Church, 4, Osage, who died Friday, September 16 at Mitchell County memorial hospital, Osage, of injuries sustained in an accident at his home, were held Monday, September 19 at Mona Lutheran church, Mona, with the Rev. Gaylord Grant and the Rev. Einar Unseth of Faith Lutheran church, London, Minn. officiating.

Philip was born in Osage July 15, 1984, the son of Dean and Lianna (Jahr) Church.

Funeral Services Wednesday for Sorine Christianson

Funeral services were held form the Mona Lutheran church Wednesday for Sorine Christianson, 78, who died Sunday as the result of a tumor.

Sorine Samuelson Christianson was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Samuelson and was born in Norway on October 14, 1860. Services were in charge of Rev. Langehough, pastor of the Mona church. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

C.; Sharon and Donald Camerer, Lyle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Janet Dahl, Lyle; Gerald and Judy Dahl, Golden Valley, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, William Painter, Sunnymeade, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Paul (Genevieve) Ross, Billingham, Wash.; Mrs. Evangeline Krause, Austin; nieces; nephews.

Funeral services for a former Mona resident, Gaylen B. Carlson, 64, were held Monday, May 18 at Hage Funeral Home in Charles City with the Rev. Stanley Carlsen officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Mona.

Carlson died at his home in Charles City, Friday, May 15.

Gaylen Carlson, son of Charles and Gunda (Johnson) Carlson, was born in Mona August 31, 1905. On July 3, 1926 he married Kathryn Torgeson at Lyle.

A lifelong resident, Miss Minnie Christianson, 78, died Friday morning, September 10 at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar where she had resided since June.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 12 at Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. S. Klemesrud officiating and interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Funeral services for Miss Clara Christiansen, 76, who died Sunday, July 11, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in St. Ansgar, were held Wednesday, July 14 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating.

Until taking up residency at the center about two weeks ago, Miss Christiansen had lived her entire life in the house in Mona where she was born January 21, 1889. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Christiansen.

OBITUARY

Wm. Caine was born in the Isle of Man, February 19, 1829, and died at Asbury Hospital in Minneapolis, where he had gone for treatment, on November 6, 1908.

He came to America in the year 1855, going to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1857 he came to Mitchell county, and purchased the farm near Mona, which was his home at the time of his death. He never married and had no relatives in this country, except a distant cousin, Mrs. Robertson, of Osage. We understand that he has a sister and nieces and nephews in his native land.

Gustav Carlson was born in Sweden May 20th 1844 and died April 27, 1912, at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 7 days.

He came to America in spring of 1869, settling in Mitchell County, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Olene Christianson, Oct. 25, 1877. To this union was born 8 children, seven of whom are living. They are Charley, Mrs. Minnie Anderson, Gilbert, Edwin, Gotfred, Rudolph and Raymond. One, Emma, died in 1902 at the age of 17 years.

B. B. Bothum remains brought to Lyle

The remains of B. B. were brought here Wednesday from Bismark, N. D., for burial. Mr. Bothum had been ill since March 6th, 1912 when he had a stroke and for months lingered along and was not expected to live. About 18 months ago he went to Bismark to make his home with his daughter Mrs. Hoiem. About a month ago they wrote that they would come to Lyle March 15th for a visit, little realizing that on that day, he would be here for burial. Mr. Bothum was past 86 years of age and lived in this community for many years.

Those who have known Mrs. Bothum would scarcely believe that the neighbors, friends and relatives would so soon be gathered for the purpose of showing their last respects in a funeral service. For over two years she has constantly and tenderly cared for her husband who has been confined to his bed. And few indeed knew that the deceased had been in poor health until they learned that only a few days ago she had gone to Rochester to submit to an operation. This was soon followed by the report that she had passed to the great beyond Saturday evening.

Miss Emma Carlson died last Saturday evening at 11:30 at the home of her parents, who live one mile southwest of Mona, Iowa, after an illness of about twelve weeks. The deceased was seventeen years five months and seventeen days old, having been born July 3rd 1885. The funeral services were held at the house, Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock and were conducted by J. M. Eggen.

Miss Sophia Blakestad, a daughter of G. Blakestad, who resides northeast of our town, died last Saturday at 11 o'clock a. m. The deceased had just passed her sixteenth birthday anniversary and from infancy till about six months before her sad death had been in apparently good health. After this time, however, her health begin to fail and as soon as the symptoms of dropsy became at all alarming the best medical aid was secured, but of no avail.

Funeral services for Rudolph A. Carlson, 64, a former Lyle resident, who died Tuesday, February 2 at the St. Olaf hospital in Austin, were held Friday, February 5 at 2 p. m. at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Merland Johnson of Lyle officiating.

Rudolph A. Carlson was born May 2, 1896 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Carlson. In this area he attended school and spent the early years of his life. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church.

Funeral services for Gilbert Carlson, who passed away so suddenly last Wednesday following a heart attack, were held Saturday, April 5, at the Mona Lutheran church with Pastor S. Stenson officiating with interment in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Gilbert Oliver Carlson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Carlson, was born on May 25, 1888, on a farm south of Mona in Mitchell County, Iowa.
