Orren John, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Christianson, passed away Wednesday morning. Death was caused by pneumonia. Orren would have been one year old Feb. 28. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the home at 2:30 with Rev. O. M. Langehough officiating. Interment was made at the Pleasant Hill cemetery.

MRS. MINNIE BERNDT
Mrs. Minnie Berndt, 83, died Tuesday afternoon at Raymond's Nursing Home after a lingering illness.
She is survived by two sons, Arthur and Chester Berndt, Austin; two grandchildren. Bruce Berndt, Austin, Mrs. Arnold Jacobson, Albert Lea; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Wollenburg, Minneapolis, Mrs. Helen Webster, Austin; a brother, Floyd Johnson, Isanti, Minn.
Funeral services will be held Thursday.

Funeral Held At
Our Savior's
Funeral services for Lloyd Berg, 62, were held Saturday, July 31 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mona.
Mr. Berg died Wednesday, July 28 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage, following a lingering illness.
Lloyd G. Berg, son of Gunder G. and Mina Johnson Berg was born in Otranto township, Mitchell County, Iowa, April 29, 1903.
It is with sorrow we chronicle the death of Grandpa Bjork which occurred Monday April 7th at 12:30 p.m. Andrew O. Bjork was born in Norway in June 1828 and emigrated to this country in 1861, settled first in Dane Co. Wis. where he resided four years, then moving west in 1865 and settle in Otranto twp Mitchell Co Iowa where he has always lived till the time of death. He leaves 7 children: 4 sons and 3 daughters and 11 grandchildren to mourn his loss. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Mona. His daughter Mrs. Peter Dock of Hawley, Minn and Mrs.
The death of Gullik O Blakestad came last Thursday afternoon at 5:40 after a lingering illness of about 8 weeks. The deceased had been in good health almost all his life until last fall when he was taken sick with appendicitis, that disease which of late has become so prevalent, and went to Rochester for an operation. After a few weeks at the hospital he returned home and was apparently in the best of health. He claimed that he had never felt better but from the hand of sickness he was relieved only a short time as about eight weeks ago he was stricken with pneumonia.
Olaf O. Bakke passed away at St. Olaf's hospital in Austin Tuesday afternoon, where he had been for the past two months. He had for years been troubled with consumption, and finally succumbed to the disease. He was the only son of Knute Bakke, and besides his father leaves a sister, Miss Sarah Bakke of Lyle. Olaf Bakke was born in Rock county, Wisconsin, in 1866, and lived there until the family moved to Mitchell County Iowa. For the past twelve years he made his home in Minneapolis, leaving there about the first of the year.

Knut O. Bakke who was reported quite ill last week, passed away at his home in Lyle Friday morning about 11 o'clock after an illness of about ten days. Mr. Bakke has not been very well for many years, although it was not until Tuesday, December 28 that he was taken seriously ill.

Since our last issue, another citizen of this community has been called to leave the cares and perplexities of this life and enter the great beyond, from whence no traveler returns.
Knut Bakke received a telephone message, from Austin Monday afternoon, that his brother, Even, had passed away at 5 o'clock, at the hospital, where he had been for the past two years. The deceased suffered a stroke of paralysis, at his home in Fairbault, Minn., March 10, 1907, from which he never recovered, and death came as a relief from his suffering.
Arney Berg, one of Mower County's old citizens, passed away at his home in Lyle Wednesday afternoon after a lingering illness of six months.
He was born in Solar, Norway, Dec. 7, 1845, and lived there until he was 23 years of age. He came to this country and settled near St. Ansgar. He has lived in the vicinity of Lyle nearly 40 years, and in this village about 6 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Severson, two daughters, Misses Isabelle and Dora and four sons, Oliver, Henry, Thorval and Oscar.
Mrs. O'Lena Arneson passed away Sunday at her home about a mile east of London after several months of illness. Mrs. Arneson was about 74 years of age. The funeral was held Wednesday and interment was made at Mona Cemetery. Rev. Moe had charge of the funeral.
OBITUARY
Mr. Gunder G. Berg who passed away suddenly at his home near Mona January 1st, was born in Grue parish, Solor, Norway, the 24th of January, 1861. He was baptized and confirmed in the parish where he was born.
The deceased was an upright man and respected by all who knew him. He found genuine pleasure in supporting liberally the one institution that sheds light on man's pathway through life, the church of God.
HERMAN BERNDT
Herman Berndt, 83, died at 3:30 a.m. today at St. Olaf Hospital.
He resided at 810 9th Ave. SW and is survived by his widow, Minnie; two sons, Arthur and Chester, and two grandchildren of Austin; two brothers, Henry and Julius of Westfield, Wis.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning.

BJORK- Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Bjork, 603 10th Ave. SW, will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at the Worlein Funeral Home, the Rev. Melvin Hauge officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona.
MRS. MARTHA BARCLAY
Mrs. Martha Barclay, 80, died early this morning at the Miller Rest Home, Lansing.
She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Alfred Peterson, Austin, and three sons, Earl, Minneapolis, and Emmanuel and Alvin, Austin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Barclay will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jordan Chapel, the Rev. Cecil Siefkes officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa.

Theodore Bagstad

Theodore Bagstad was born December 14th, 1861 in Opsal Hedemarken, Norway. When twelve years of age, he came to this country with his parents and settled in Six-Mile Grove, where he grew to manhood, attending the Red Star School house. Oct. 24, 1886, he was united in marriage to Martha Finkelson. Oct. 24, 1936, they celebrated their Golden Wedding and in 1946 their sixtieth anniversary. He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 13, 1947. He leaves to mourn his death numerous nieces and nephews.
FRANK EDWARD BARCLAY
Frank Edward Barclay, 82, died Thursday at City Hospital in Red Wing. He resided on Austin Rt. 4.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon.

FUNERAL HELD FOR EDW. BJORK
AT LUTHERAN CHURCH SATURDAY
Thursday morning last week news spread rapidly about the village that Ed Bjork had passed away during the night. He had been in his usual health and it was a shock to his immediate family and friends.
Edward J Bjork was born May 20, 1870 in Mitchell county, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Christena Bjork. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed at the age of 15 in the Mona Lutheran church.
RELEASED FROM SUFFERING
Mrs. T Bagstad, who had been in failing health the past year passed away at 10 o'clock, Monday evening.
On Oct. 24th, 1946, she and Mr. Bagstad celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, an event which she looked forward to with pleasure. She attended to her household duties as long as her strength made it possible, but of late other and willing hands have cared for her as life slowly ebbed from the frail body.
Mrs. Bagstad was hospitality itself and she made everyone welcome. The community will not be the same without her.
