Funeral services for Lloyd Berg, 62, were held Saturday, July 31 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mona.

Mr. Berg died Wednesday, July 28 at Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage, following a lingering illness.

Lloyd G. Berg, son of Gunder G. and Mina Johnson Berg was born in Otranto township, Mitchell County, Iowa, April 29, 1903.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church and remained steadfast in the Lutheran faith.

He attended the Mona school. Lloyd, being the oldest son, had to leave school at an early age to be able to assist his parents and family. Some of his early employment consisted of farm work, a short time at Hormel's in Austin and clerking in Lyle stores.

On August 4, 1936 he was united in marriage to Opal Richardson. One daughter, Myrna Ann, was born to this union.

He spent most of his life in the Lyle community with the exception of two years when he worked in a defense plant in Minneapolis.

Before buying his home farm, he operated a grocery store in Lyle from 1945 to 1949, and also a store in Austin for two years.

Being a devoted church worker he was active in Brotherhood and church choir for many years and sang with many quartets in the Lyle community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Myrna Ann in 1940, two sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Opal; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Rustad, Menomonie, Wis; Mrs. Dora Carlson and Mrs. Helga Larson, both of Austin, and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Wm. Klusmeier, Eddie Fossey, Galen Carlson, Peter Anderson, Christian Olswold and Lewis Sola.

Out of town persons attending the funeral were from Menomonie, Wis., Wayzata, Albert Lea, Dexter and Austin, Minn.; and Northwood and St. Ansgar.
