Funeral services for Rudolph A. Carlson, 64, a former Lyle resident, who died Tuesday, February 2 at the St. Olaf hospital in Austin, were held Friday, February 5 at 2 p. m. at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Merland Johnson of Lyle officiating.

Rudolph A. Carlson was born May 2, 1896 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Carlson. In this area he attended school and spent the early years of his life. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church.

Mr. Carlson served in the United States Army in this country and overseas in World War I. In 1922 he was united in marriage to Dora C. Berg. They lived a number of years in the Lyle vicinity, later moving to Austin where they presently resided, and where he was employed at the George A. Hormel plant.

He was a lifelong and active member of the Mona Lutheran church. Mr. Carlson died following a heart attack at St. Olaf hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Dora; one brother, Raymond and one sister, Mrs. Nils Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona with the Rev. Johnson in charge of the committal services.
