OBITUARY

Mads Nelson passed away Saturday evening Dec. 2 at the age of 73 years, 3 months and one day.

Altho Mr. Nelson has been in failing health the past year, he was able to carry on his work until three days before his death, and his sudden passing came as a shock to all who knew him.

Mr. Nelson was born in Denmark Sept. 1, 1871 and came to his parents to this country when only 7 months old, his parents settling in Mitchell county. He was the son of Chris and Mary Ann Nelson.

OBITUARY

The funeral of the late Clayton Nelson, at the Mona church last Saturday afternoon, was largely attended. The church was far too small to accommodate those who came to pay their last respects to this popular young man whose tragic death was a shock to the entire community.

The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, expressing in a small measure the love esteem and sympathy of the community. The pall bearers were Bob Rick, Russell Helfritz, Dean Thompson, Kenneth and Lloyd Everson, Orlando Grove.

ACCIDENT

Funeral rites for Clayton Nelson, 21, who was killed in an accident on the Godfrey Carlson farm Tuesday morning of last week, were held on Saturday afternoon at the Lutheran church in Mona, Rev. O. M. Langehough in charge.

Nelson, who had been working on the Carlson farm for three months was killed when a 16 foot log fell on him, breaking his neck. The youth had been piling logs preparatory to sawing them for lumber.

BURIED TUESDAY

Fred Nelson was born in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, April 29, 1881 and passed away at his home Saturday evening at 8:30, at the exact age of 52 years, after a lingering illness of over a year. He was baptized and confirmed at his home by Rev. Dedrickson, in the year 1905, and has been a faithful member of the Mona Lutheran Church, always willing to lend a helping hand.

On September 26, 1904, he was united in marriage to Carrie Johnson by Rev. M. E. Waldeland at St.Ansgar, Iowa.

The remains of Miss Alma Nelson were brought to Lyle Monday. and the funeral was held Tuesday at the Lutheran church, Rev. Vang officiating.

Alma Chartotte Nelson was born at Waukon, Iowa. Nov. 27, 1895, and died April 4th, 1925. When three years of age she moved with the family to Lake Mills, Iowa, where she attended public and parochial school. There she was instructed in the word of God and confirmed by Rev. A. J. Lee.

Mrs. Anna Myhre-Anderson passed away at the state hospital in Rochester last Monday afternoon, after a lingering illness. In the passing of this citizen Lyle loses one of its oldest, if not the oldest, residents of this village. When a young woman she came here from Worth county, Iowa and worked for Chas. Cole who was then in the mercantile business here and later sold his interest to J. O. Myhre. She witnessed the changes that have since taken place in the vicinity and added her share to the up building and betterment of the community.

She was a daughter of C.M. Nelson, and leaves besides her father, two sisters, Mrs. R.C. Rustad and Mrs. Thos. Phillips, and six brothers, Christian, Mads, Peter, Fred, Chris and Henry, to mourn her death. She was noted for her cheerful, lovable disposition.

George Nesse, a son of Martin Nesse, residing south east of Mona, went rabbit hunting Saturday in company with a number of other boys and met with an accident from which he died Monday morning. He had wounded a rabbit which he was trying to kill with the butt end of a gun when it accidentally discharged, the ball entering his limb just above the knee, passing upward into his body. Dr. Cobb of Mona and Dr. Bundy, of this place made a careful examination of the wound Sunday, but give up all hopes of saving the young man's life.

Last Rites Held For Gustav Nesset At Schutte Funeral Home Friday Afternoon

Funeral services were conducted for Gustav Nesset on Friday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home at Austin [Minnesota] at 1:30 o'clock, with the Rev. Noss in charge of the services. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery south of Mona, Iowa.

Gustav Johnson Nesset was born August 27, 1872 in Mitchell county, Iowa, and passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 1942, after suffering a stroke the day before.

Funeral services for Harlan L. Nelson, 64, lifelong resident of Otranto township, who died at Mitchell County memorial hospital July 31, were held August 3 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Einar Unseth officiating.

Harlan LeRoy Nelson was born February 15, 1909, the son of Fred and Carrie (Johnson) Nelson. He was baptized, confirmed and remained a lifelong member of the Mona Lutheran church. Mr. Nelson attended the Mona grade school and was graduated from Lyle high school.

AUSTIN -- A memorial service for Bernette C. Nelson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church in Mona, Iowa, with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona.

Mrs. Nelson, 96, a resident of St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, died May 31 at Austin Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 30, 1907, in Nevada Township, Mower County. On Nov. 21, 1928, she married Ernest C. Nelson in Lyle. She had lived in Austin since 1978. She was a member of the Mona Lutheran Church.
