Vance Hotson Funeral Held January 28

Funeral services for Vance B. Hotson, 80, Lyle, were held January 28 at Our Savior's Lutheran church with the Rev. M. Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Woodbury Cemetery.

Mr. Hotson died Monday, January 25 from a heart attack.

Vance Bowers Hotson, son of Fred and Wilhelmina Hotson, was born in Lyle township September 23, 1890, and was a lifelong resident of Lyle township.

Terry Charles Hollerud of Eden Prairie, Minnesota entered eternal life on November 28, 2017. Born July 18,1948 in Austin, Minnesota son of Leonard J. Hollerud and Ruth L. Swain. Preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Ruth; brother Ronald and nephew Jeffrey. He is survived by loving wife, Mary Ellen, Daughter Anne, and Son John (Dulce), grandchildren Britney and J.T.; Sisters: Linda Dupuis, Ruth Ann (Glen) Miles and Mary (Ted) Langer; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services Held for John Hollerud

A Lyle area retired farmer John Hollerud, age 71, died at St. Olaf hospital in Austin Saturday morning, October 15, from a week's illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 18 at Six-Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating and interment was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Linnea Hollerud Funeral Held At Six Mile Grove

Funeral services for Mrs. John (Linnea) Hollerud, 84, who died August 7 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Austin, were held August 10 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with the Rev. G. Grant officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Linnea Hollerud, daughter of Anders and Charlotte (Johannson) Anderson, was born at Asker, Norway March 6, 1892 and was the fourth child of a family of 13 children.

AUSTIN LEE WITTLIEF

Austin Lee Wittlief, 91, died Thursday, Feb. 11, at Lake Vew Memorial Hospital in Two Harbors.

Austin was born to Edward and Lilly Wittlief on a farm in Oronoco, Minn., and was the eldest of five siblings.

He married Luella Mueller in 1943, spent a few years working as a farmer in Moose Lake, then moved to Silver Creek and worked as a well driller for seven years. In his mid 30's he moved to Lyle, Minn., where he owned and operated the Gambles-Skogmo's Store and worked as a plumber, while he finished raising his daughter and two sons.

Death of an Old Settler.

Halvor O. Springer an old resident of Mitchell Co., died at his home four miles south of this village, Nov. 29, at twelve o'clock m. He was born July 5, 1828. He came to Rock Prairie, Wis. when 22 years of age. Was married seven years later to Miss Rignel Jenson. He came to Mitchell county about fourty-one years ago and settled on the farm where he lived at the time of his death.

Eight children are now living, James living at Buxton, Dak. Halvor, Christian, Nels, Chistina, Mrs. O. Grove, Juila and Carl.

Barney D. Nye obituary

--Barney D. Nye, one of the earliest settlers of Nevada township, departed this life, and was buried from his residence, Thursday, March 31st, 1881. It was a very stormy day, but a great many people, with teams, gathered at his residence to pay their last tribute of respect to the departed dead and family. The sermon was preached at Minnereka school-house, by Rev. Alfred Cressey, of Austin. The house was filled. After the sermon the body was buried in the Beach cemetery. Disease lung fever. Age, 56 years. Leaves a widow, son, and daughter.

Calvin Henry Owen, one of the pioneer settlers of the town of Lyle died at his residence in this city at 4:30, Monday afternoon, May 20, 1907, of paralysis, aged 83 years. He had a stroke of paralysis in June, 1905, and has since felt the effects of it. He was around most of the time until three weeks ago when he was taken critically ill.

MATTHEW ST. JOHN.

Matthew St. John, an old resident of Lyle township, died Saturday morning, March 23, 1907, at the home of his son, A. M. St. John, at Lakefield, Minn., aged 87 years.

He was born September 7th, 1819, at Westerlo, Albany county, N. Y., and was married to Roxaline Pierce at Prattsville, N. Y., May 28th, 1845, by Rev. Headstrom.

William West obituary

WEST.

At the home of his son in Minneapolis, Thursday evening, Jan. 3, 1900 (sic), of kidney trouble, William West, aged 76 years. He was one of the first settlers of Lyle township.

He was born in town of Stockton, Chatauqua county, N. Y. December 9, 1824. His father, John West, was a native of Massachusetts and was one of the early pioneers of Chatauqua county where he bought land of the Holland company. The son William grew to manhood on the Stockton farm, receiving a common school education. He was married in 1945 to Miss Charlotte L. Gordon.
