Obituary for Terry Hollerud
Terry Charles Hollerud of Eden Prairie, Minnesota entered eternal life on November 28, 2017. Born July 18,1948 in Austin, Minnesota son of Leonard J. Hollerud and Ruth L. Swain. Preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Ruth; brother Ronald and nephew Jeffrey. He is survived by loving wife, Mary Ellen, Daughter Anne, and Son John (Dulce), grandchildren Britney and J.T.; Sisters: Linda Dupuis, Ruth Ann (Glen) Miles and Mary (Ted) Langer; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Terry grew up in Austin MN and attended elementary school there. In 1961 the family moved to Lyle Minnesota where Terry finished his early education graduating in the class of 1966. He enlisted in the Army in 1967 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the Calvary Division. In 1970 his Army service ended and he returned to live in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He worked at the meat packing plant, Wilsons, and attended classes learning about refrigeration at the community college. Furthering his education he moved to the Twin Cities to attend the University of Minnesota.
Terry met his wife, Mary Ellen Hansen, and they married on July 28,1979. They were blessed with two children through adoption. The family moved to Norwood Young America. Terry worked as a meat cutter in Cologne, Minnesota before retiring.
Terry enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and watching Minnesota Golden Gophers sports teams, professional football and baseball. His favorite baseball team was the Chicago Cubs he made trips to Chicago to watch them play at Wrigley Field.
Terry supported veterans as a member of the America Legion and the VFW. He was a strong advocate for veterans and the VA Hospital.
Our Family would like to express gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff assisting in his care at the VA Hospital. A special thank you to all staff working in sections 1Freedom Way, 3K Hospital and 1-D Dignity Lane. You touched the lives of Terry and his family.

A service will be held on Tuesday, December 5 at 10:00AM at Victory Lutheran Church, 16200 Berger Dr, Eden Prairie, with a visitation beginning at 9:00AM. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
