Funeral Services Were Held In Lyle For Opal Berg At Our Savior's Lutheran

Funeral services for Opal Berg, 76, of Lyle, Minnesota, who died March 28 at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, Minnesota, were held Monday, April 1 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle with the Rev. Harold Luecke officiating.

Mrs. G. G. Berg, Mona Resident, Dies Saturday

Mrs. G. G. Berg, residing near Mona, died Saturday, Dec. 13, following a stroke Friday. She was born Aug. 8, 1872, in Mitchell county, and had resided here since her birth. Her husband, Gunder Berg, passed away seven years ago.

She is survived by eight children, Mrs. Mabel Tieman, Mrs. Helga Larson, Mrs. Bessie Duenow, Mrs. Dora Carlson, Blanche, Lloyd, Lee and Rueben, all of whom reside in the community, and were present at her bedside when the summons came.

Lila Larson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Larson, was born Feb. 23, 1905 near Mona. She was baptized and confirmed into the Norwegian Lutheran church. March 4, 1924 she was united in marriage to Emanual M. Barclay. To this union were born four children. Besides her husband Mrs. Barclay is survived by her children, Milo age 6; Robert 4; Audrey 3; and Richard 8 months; also her parents and 5 sisters and 5 brothers: Mrs. B. Theo. Arneson, one of this community's old and respected citizens died rather suddenly Monday evening at 11:05 from angina pectoris of the heart, at his home, west of Mona. The deceased was a very conscientious citizen, and kind neighbor. He was about 73 years of age. The funeral will be held at the Mona church, Friday afternoon at 12:30.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Esther Baker At Pleasant Hill

Graveside prayer services were held Monday, May 26 by Rev. Unseth at Pleasant Hill cemetery, Mona, for the cremated ashes of Mrs. Esther (Dock) Baker, 73, of Lake Worth, Fla., brought here by her sister, Mrs. Enid Hall of Lake Worth.

Esther Baker, daughter of Peter and Ella (Bjork) Dock was born at Hawley, Minn. She lived in Lyle many years and attended Lyle school and graduated from there and Nurses Training at Austin and was employed as an R.N. at the Colonial hospital, Rochester.

Funeral services for Mary Kirby Berry, Grand Meadow, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home, Rev. Gaylord Grant officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

THE OBITUARY OF HALVOR O. BLAKESTAD

Halvor O. Blakestad was born in Otranto Township, Mitchell County Iowa, Jan. 17th, 1864, and died after a lingering illness May 21st, at 11:15 A. M. Thus he reached the age of 60 years 4 months and 4 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. Blakestad, who came here from Norway when they were but children. They were among the first settlers in Otranto Township.

The departed made his home here always as he grew up, except a few years when he lived in North Dakota.

Mrs. Guri Bakke, wife of Knute Bakke, who has been an invalid for nearly 25 years died last Sunday morning aged 63 years.

She was married to Mr. Bakke in 1864 and came to Mona in 1880. They have had 3 children two of whom are living, Olaf aged 30 years and Serine aged 23 years.

She was buried Tuesday in the Mona cemetery, Rev. Eggen officiating. A large number of friends and neighbors came to pay their last respects to the old lady.

Funeral services for a lifelong Mona area farmer, Peter E. Anderson, 80, were held Wednesday, August 13 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. S. Klemesrud of Highland, Minn. officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Mona.

Mr. Anderson died Sunday, August 10 at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Center.

Peter Edwin Anderson was born February 21, 1889 on the farm where he had lived his entire life west of Mona in Mitchell County. He was the son of Andrew and Camilla Anderson.

Last Thursday afternoon at 4:50 the death angel came to relieve Adolph Anderson, who has been a patient and constant sufferer with Consumption of the Bladder for many years. It had been known for some time that he could not live long, as he was continually growing weaker and weaker.

The funeral was held from the home Sunday afternoon by Rev. Hanna[illegible] and at Mona church at 3 o'clock by Rev. Dietrichson.

Halvor Anderson of Mona Suddenly But Peacefully Answers the Final Summons.

Another of the oldest inhabitants of this vicinity has passed away. Tuesday afternoon Mr. Halvor Anderson Lysager, one of the oldest residents of Mitchell county suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at his home in Otranto township. Mr. Anderson had done no active labor for the last seven years since his severe illness but with exception of an attack of illness in 1892 had enjoyed fairly good health up to the day of his death.
