This time cuts down one just in the prime of life.
The sad news of the death of Gus Eide reached us on Saturday last; he having died that morning at St. Olaf's hospital, Austin. This death is made doubly sad because of his lacking relatives in this country, his mother residing in Norway.
Mrs. Clara Rawn Funeral Held September 24
Mrs. Clara Rawn, daughter of Arnie and Gundiel Larson, was born in Mitchell County, August 25, 1883 and died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital September 22 after a short illness.
She attended school in Mona, and on June 29, 1904 was united in marriage with Walter Rawn at Austin, Minn. They farmed in Lyle township and Mrs. Rawn lived in the Lyle community all her life.

Funeral Held In
Minneapolis
Funeral services were held in Minneapolis Wednesday, February 24 for a former Mona resident, Ben Steene, age, 83.
He died at his home in Minneapolis Monday February 22 following a five week's illness from a stroke.
Services were held at Werness Funeral Home and interment was in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. I. O. Jacobson
officiating.
Funeral Rites Held for Alice Thovson
Miss Alice J. Thovson, 81 who has lived in Mona the past 20 years, passed away Monday March 2, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Austin, Minn, where she and her sister had moved only last December.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 5, at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church with Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating and interment was in the church cemetery.
Peter Hanson, aged 72 years, died Sept. 7. He was born in Denmark and came to Freeborn county in 1869. He came to Lyle in 1874 and opened a harness shop which he conducted until last spring. He leaves a widow and six children. Interment at Mona.

Coal power plant
Dear Editor:
The proposal by Wisconsin Dairyland Power to build a modern day dinosaur as a coal-burning power plant in Mona, IA, a rural community in Mitchell county, near the Minnesota border, not only sickens me, but waves numerous red danger flags as to the lack of regard Dairyland Power has for the land or its residents.

Centennial
Not since the village doctor, W. F. Cobb's brass band back in the late 1800's has Mona been serenaded with such talented musicians as they were at Mona Centennial celebration Sunday, October 12 when the American Legion Post 278 Osage Drum & Bugle Corp made a surprise volunteer visit to appear on the program.
Ole Halvorson passed away last Friday morning. Funeral services were held at the local church Monday afternoon and interment was made in the local cemetery.
The funeral of Ed Arenson (sic) was held at the Six Mile Grove church last week Tuesday. For a number of years Mr. Arneson operated a farm east of Mona.
VOLSTAD- Arthur, age 55, June 4. Survived by wife, 2 sons, 3 sisters & brother. Interment Mona, Iowa. Enger service.

Lyle, Minn., Dec.-[Special.]-Fred Waugh, son of W.S. Waugh, who lives about three miles west of Lyle, about 18 years old, died suddenly of heart disease at Gregg's Hotel, Mona, Iowa, a mile south of here, last night at 8 o'clock.

Services MRS. ALMA E. ANDERSON, 80, 3816 28TH Av. S., who died Thursday, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Henry W. Anderson Mortuary; 3640 23rd Av. S., and at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Iowa.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Risor, Norway. She was a member of Bethesda Free Church.
Survivors include five sons, Howard I., Clyde M. and Russell C., all of Minneapolis, and Merwin E. and Grant E., both of Portland, Ore., and four daughters, Mrs. Carl J. Knutson, Mrs. Clarence E. Rick, Mrs. Stan Larson, and Mrs. Alwood Lee, all of Minneapolis.
