Joseph Attlesey, well-known Stacyville mill operator and auctioneer, was found dead, sitting at the wheel in his car in his garage at his home on Monday morning.

Sunday morning he told his son, Harry, and wife, with whom he made his home; that he was going to Mitchell to spend the day with his sister, Mrs. Mary Warrington. They, too, left on a little trip, and when they arrived home and found him still away, supposed that he had stayed that night at his sister's home.

Harry Attlesey of Lyle dies at 88

LYLE ---- Harry Attlesey, 88, of Lyle, longtime owner of the Lyle blacksmith shop, died Friday evening (July 7, 1995) at Good Samartitan Nusring Home in St. Ansgar, Iowa.

He was born Sept. 19, 1906, in rural Austin. On Jan. 1, 1929, he married Isabel Webber in Austin and they lived in Austin and Stacyville, Iowa, before moving to Lyle. He then worked for A &; S Machines, operated a portable feed mill, and for 46 years before his retirement at age 84 owned the Lyle blacksmith shop. He enjoyed working on the farm and gardening.

ROCHESTER — Daniel M. Attlesey, 89, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Maple Manor in Rochester.

Dan was born Sept. 10, 1919, to Joseph and Mary (Warrington) Attlesey. Dan married Wanda Kittleson on June 30, 1940. He proudly served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific. He worked at Hormel in Austin for 42 years. Dan enjoyed retirement at the lake home, outdoor activities, horses, and especially loved spending time with his family.

Earl Joseph Mudra, Jr., 54, died unexpectedly in his sleep on May 27, 2008.

He was born June 26, 1953 to Earl and Matilda (Svenson) Mudra in Austin, where he grew up and attended school. Earl worked various jobs.
Survivors include his mother, Tillie (Richard) Kelley, Austin; two sisters, Janice (David) Goldman, Austin; Lois (Bruce) Beer, Michigan; three nieces, Raquel Beer, Nichole Beer, Staci (Goldman) Bruce; nephew, Joe Goldman; great-nephew, Cayden Bruce.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl J. Mudra and his grandparents.

Irene M. G. Gemmel, 81

Irene May Gladys Clausen Gemmel, age 81, passed away July 1, 2003, in LaVerkin, Utah.

She was born Nov. 9, 1921, to Marie and Rudolph Clausen in Osage, Iowa. She was educated in Iowa and Minnesota and spent most of her life caring for ill people in their homes. Her sister moved her to Utah in 1997 to oversee her care.

Irene and Albert E. Gemmel were united in marriage Nov. 8, 1959, and lived in Austin.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; a sister, Jeri; and a brother, Jerome Clausen.

Ethel Mary Harrison, 90, of Austin died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society, St. Ansgar, Iowa.

Ethel Mary Young was born Oct. 20, 1921, in Wiscoy Township in rural Winona County to George and Mame (Corcoran) Young. She married Richard Ellsworth Harrison on Feb. 6, 1947, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Together, they had two sons, Gary and Steve.

Iris Lorraine Hackensmith, 85, of Austin, died Friday, April 16, 2010 at Our House Senior Living.

Iris was born May 5, 1924 in Austin to Lester and Agnes (Gemmel) Ball. She was a retired employee of Hormel Foods having worked there for many years, and she also worked at the VFW. Iris enjoyed fishing, traveling, dancing and visiting with her family.

James C. Samuel, 65, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.

Service: Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nancy Hansen officiating.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Interment: Interment will be in Cedar City Cemetery in rural Austin.

Glenn M. Brandt, 92, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at his home at The Cedars of Austin.

Glenn was born April 27, 1923, in Austin, Minnesota, to Michael and Edna (Priem) Brandt. He graduated from Austin High School in 1941. Glenn married Loriene Hanson in Austin on Nov. 8, 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He worked for the Geo. A. Hormel Company until his retirement in 1984.

Dolly J. Warrington, 96, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died quietly surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Euless, Texas, on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014.

Dolly Jean was born in Abbington, Illinois, to a young widow, Etta “Alice” (Cramblett) Germond on Oct. 5, 1918. Dolly grew up in Southern California and was raised from the age of 6 in the Masonic Home for Children until her high school graduation. She always spoke highly of her time there and the care given her.
