ROCHESTER — Daniel M. Attlesey, 89, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Maple Manor in Rochester.

Dan was born Sept. 10, 1919, to Joseph and Mary (Warrington) Attlesey. Dan married Wanda Kittleson on June 30, 1940. He proudly served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific. He worked at Hormel in Austin for 42 years. Dan enjoyed retirement at the lake home, outdoor activities, horses, and especially loved spending time with his family.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 69 years, Wanda; five children, Mary Ann Smith of Rochester, Terry (Sharon) Attlesey of Rochester, Stanley (Linda) Attlesey of Ocala, Fla., Renee (Don) Bondeson of Dacono, Colo., and Jacqueline (Michael) Attlesey-Pries of Rochester; an honorary daughter, Jane Liepold of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren, Scott Smith of Minnetonka, Minn., Kim (Clark) Jones of Rochester, Chad (Miranda) Attlesey of Rochester, Clay (Julie) Attlesey of Golden Valley, Minn., Alex (Melissa) Attlesey of New Jersey, Daniel (Sarah) Bondeson of New York, Jeremy (Christine) Bondeson of Colorado, Christopher Bondeson of Colorado, Josh Attlesey-Pries of Rochester and Sam Attlesey-Pries of Rochester; five great-grandchildren; nieces, Marilyn Jensen of Las Vegas and LaRayne Kleckner of Iowa; and a nephew, Ronald (Jane) Attlesey of Lyle.

Dan is preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Lee Attlesey; his parents; a brother, Harry; and a sister, Blanche.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2124 Viola Rd. N.E., with Pastor Fred Rengstorf officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Cedar City Cemetery in Austin.
