Iris Lorraine Hackensmith, 85, of Austin, died Friday, April 16, 2010 at Our House Senior Living.

Iris was born May 5, 1924 in Austin to Lester and Agnes (Gemmel) Ball. She was a retired employee of Hormel Foods having worked there for many years, and she also worked at the VFW. Iris enjoyed fishing, traveling, dancing and visiting with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Bailey of Austin; two grandchildren, Brian Bailey, Rodney (Beth) Bailey; six great-grandchildren, Sophia and Joseph Bailey, Samuel, Grace, Caleb and Thomas Bailey; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Ball and Ruth Ball, both of Austin.

She is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; a special friend, Paul.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Cedar City Cemetery.
