Miss Martha Engesetter who has been suffering for the past three years with a cancer passed away at St. Olafs hospital at Austin Friday evening about midnight. It was a long and painful struggle and the end was welcome.

When she was first taken ill she commenced to doctor, visiting most of the specialists in Minnesota and Iowa but no relief and no hope was given her, and she soon resigned herself to meet death. About nine months ago she was taken to the hospital where she remained until death.

Aslak Knutson, who for the past 5 years has been practically helpless on account of his advanced age, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. K. L. Leidahl (sic), Monday afternoon. It was a quiet ending of a long life. He complained a little in the morning about not having had his rest and said if he could get to sleep he would be all right. Later on he went to sleep and his spirit quietly passed away.

Obituary

Hans Hall who was about 85 years of age passed away at the Tom Enerson home in Nevada, Sunday, Jan. 7th. The deceased has made his home in this vicinity for the past 25 years, stopping at one place and then another.

For a while he lived with his son, who was then in business at Osage. He leaves no near relatives so far as can be learned, and was buried by the county.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon and interment was made at Six Mile Grove cemetery.

Ole Fredrickson obituary

Ole Fredickson, who was for many years a resident of this community, passed away at his home in Carlton county, near Barnum, Minn., on October 3rd. He had been sick only about two weeks.

He was 69 years, 3 months and 14 days old at the time of his death. His son accompanied the remains here Monday evening and the funeral took place Tuesday, interment being made in the Six Mile Grove cemetery. He leaves a wife and one son to mourn his departure.

The Tribune last week contained a brief notice of the death of Rev. Carberry whose death had been expected for about two weeks. Wednesday he seemed somewhat revived and the hope was entertained that he might remain for some time but the end was near and he passed away Thursday about noon. Although sick for a long time he never complained of his sufferings nor did he waver in his faith, but bore it all with Christian fortitude to the end.

Sophia Leverson died

The sad intelligence was received in Lyle last Tuesday that Mrs. Lewis Leverson, who had been very low with typhoid fever at her home in Leeds N. D., was dead and that the body would be shipped here for interment. The remains were expected Thursday but connections could not be made so the funeral was postponed.

Mrs. Leaverson was reared in this community and was known and loved by a host of friends who mourn her departure. She was married about three years ago and has since lived at Leeds. Miss Mav Meyer who had been with her sister is very low with the same disease.

Sophia Leverson obituary

The remains of the late Mrs. Lewis Leverson of Leeds, N. D., whose death was reported in last weeks issue of the Tribune, were brought to Lyle last Thursday and interment was made in the Six Mile Grove cemetery.

Sophia Meyer was born in Nevada Township in Feb. of 1878 and died at her home at Leeds, N. D., Dec. 11. On Dec. 27, 1902 she was married to Lewis Leverson, who survives her. She also leaves one sister and four brothers besides her parents to mourn her loss.

OBITUARY.

It again becomes our duty to chronicle the death of one who has been near and dear to many in this community, and who succumbed to the terrible disease of typhoid fever, after a brave struggle of several weeks. The end came last Saturday night, at Leeds, N. D. and the sad message was sent to relatives here. Only the night before she had rallied and the word that there was new hope of her recovery was joyfully received, but it was only to be followed by another that life was no more.

Sever P. Nordess, who has been confined to his home since the 20th of December died, Thursday, afternoon at 2 o'clock. The deceased has been a sufferer with Bright's disease for many years but has borne his suffering with patience unto the end. Mr. Nordess was born in Norway the 25th days of June 1828 and came to the country about fifty years ago. He settled in Wisconsin where he made his home for two years when he came to Minnesota and located on a farm in Nevada township. He lived there until last summer when he moved to this village.

Hans Jacobson died

Hans Jacobson, who recently came here from Clear Lake, Iowa died very suddenly from heart failure last Saturday at 2:40 p.m. at his home two miles east of the village. The deceased was about 70 years of age. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Eggen at the Six Mile Grove church and interment was made in the Six Mile Grove Cemetery.

Ole Lastine died

Sunday, at Rochester, where he had gone for an operation occurred the death of Ole Lastine who lived 3 miles east of town. Deceased was about 60 years of age and leaves a wife, four sons and two daughters to whom the friends extend sympathy in their sad bereavement. The remains were brought home Monday evening. Interment was made Thursday afternoon, at the Six Mile Grove cemetery, Rev. J. M. Eggen conducted the funeral services.

Gunder Halverson obituary

DEATHS.

Hon. Gunder Halverson, a pioneer of Mower county and a very prominent and influential character in the early history of our county, died at his home in Nevada township last Thursday after a short illness with grippe.

Mr. Halverson was born in Norway January 12, 1828 and came to America in 1846. Living in Wisconsin and Illinois a few years until he became seized with the gold craze and went to California in 1852. Mr. Halverson settled in Mower county in 1855. In 1873 he was elected to represent Mower county in the state legislature.

Ole Tovsen and Sandwig baby died

An item handed us for publication says: "Two funerals at the same hour in Six Mile Grove church. Mr. and Mrs. Sandwig lost their two year old baby last week from inflammation of the brain. Mr. Ole Tovsen died last week suddenly from heart disease. Ole Tovsen was on of the oldest settlers living three miles northeast of Lyle. He leaves a widow and three children of whom Tov Olson of this city is one. Both funerals occurred in the church at the same time and both the remains were laid to rest in the Six Mile Grove cemetery, Rev. Eggen officiating."

Ole Berg died

Mr. Ole Berg died at his home Wednesday of last week. Mr. Berg was born in Norway 77 years ago. Having been a great sufferer all winter he welcomed death as a friend. He leaves a wife and 4 children. The funeral took place Saturday in the Lutheran church. Services were conducted by Rev. Eggen.

Jens Sandvig obituary

SEDVICK (sic)-- At his home near Lyle, on April 29th, 1902, of pneumonia.

Mr. Jens Sedvick, who was born in Norway in 1845. He was married to Anna Steene and lived here for twenty or twenty-five years. He leaves besides his widow, four children to mourn for him. The funeral will occur tomorrow (Saturday) at the Six Mile Grove church conducted by the Rev. J. M. Eggen.

Mrs. Hanna Jacobson Funeral Held At Our Saviors

Funeral services for Mrs. Hanna Jacobson, 90 formerly of the Rose Creek area, were held Saturday, January 28 at Our Savior's Lutheran church, Lyle, with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in Six Mile Grove Lutheran cemetery. She died January 26 after a short illness at Raymonds Nursing Home in Austin.

Hanna Helene Jacobson, the daughter of Jarand and Guro Olson, was born April 30, 1876. She attended school in Nevada township, and was a dressmaker before her marriage to Andrew K. Jacobson February 20, 1899.
