MRS SVEN JACOBSON LAID TO REST, SATURDAY

A long life well spent is what might be said of the life of Mrs. Sarah Jacobson. She was one of the oldest residents of this community at the time of her death, having spent seventy-five years of her life in this part of the country.

Mrs. Jacobson's predominating traits of character were love for her family, and charity and kindness to the needy and unfortunate. Her heart went out to those in want, and wherever there was poverty and illness, her purse strings were open to aid the unfortunate. Nothing seemed to give her more pleasure than to be able to help those in need.

During her illness people from all walks in life were at her bedside and many friends who had moved to distant parts returned that they might see once more the kind friend who had befriended them so often. She had not a selfish thought for her self but to make others happy with what she possessed.

Though her years were many, her spirit was young--she was possessed with a wonderful sense of humor.

Her funeral Saturday attested the large circle of friends of all nationalities and creeds who came to do honor to one who was a true Christian.

The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful--a slight token of the love and esteem in which she was held.

Mrs. Sarah Jacobson was born in Ostre Toten, Norway, Feb 12th, 1845 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. A. Ulven at 11:15 A. M. Tuesday, Oct. 9th.

She came to America with her parents, settling in Dane County, Wisconsin, in 1853. In 1854 they moved to Nevada Township, in Mower County, and resided on the homestead until her marriage to Swen Jacobson in 1861. A few years later they purchased a farm on the prairie five miles south of Rose Creek, and made this their home until 1897 when they moved to the farm just east of Rose Creek, where Mr. Jacobson died in 1904. Mrs. Jacobson lived there until 1912. Since then she has made her home with her daughters, Mrs. Ulven and Mrs. Watt.

To this union was born 14 children, five dying in infancy. Nine are living as follows: John of Elbow Lake, Minn.; Chris of Jamestown, N. D.; Andrew of Osakis, Minn.; Martin of Excelsior, Minn.; Ben of Austin; Sophie of Milwaukee, Wis.; and Gus, Anna and Rena of Rose Creek.

Mrs. Jacobson was a member of the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church since its organization and had lived in this community for 75 years having gone through and experience the pioneer hardships of the early days in Mower County.

A good mother is gone and she will be missed by her children and also by the host of friends. -Contributed.
